How has The Escapist enriched your life?

I bookmarked this thread, and it's still as relevant as ever! Thank you OP and posters, for creating this gem of optimism in a cynical internet.

As the OP, I want to personally thank you for looking back on my thread. Even it was a substandard attempt on my part, I am happy to know that someone appreciated it.

As for the rest of your post, I firmly believe in expanding one's own knowledge and applying critical reasoning (in moderation) to the many situations that life throws at you or even the variety of viewpoints that others will present to you. While I am woefully ignorant on many many topics, insight gained from stepping out of your comfort-zone can more often than not avoid needless negativity and pointless fighting.

A developing mind is a healthier mind, in my opinion.

Oh yes. I've met people online on the Escapist from across the globe that I never would have had the chance to otherwise. A lot of cool UK people as well as Americans! I also just befriended the OP due to seeing him around and writing cool threads/posts!

Have the forums provided the opportunity for you to vent your frustrations?

I don't usually vent in the forums themselves but I have vented a little in groups from time to time. PMs with friends more than anything else.

Has your perspective on gaming (whether it be the culture, game design, introduction to other genre's, etc) shifted?

I'm definitely more informed on trends by checking out the news than I used to be and I have broadened my horizons considerably since I joined in 2009.

Is The Escapist a friendly place where you can relax and flame each other to hell and back have interesting discussions with like-minded individuals?

Without a doubt. And I wouldn't go anywhere else to do it.
