Probably massively, and a whole lot to do with this site. I joined up here when I was fourteen, at the time I didn't go out much and had very few people to talk to (to the point that, on New Year's 08-09, I was literally sat at home on my own talking to some people on an Elder Scrolls forum). So yeah, it probably made me quite a lot happier for a while until things got better. Also, being on here, which has a lot more debates and things than any other forum I've been on, I learnt how to not be a prick just because you disagree with someone, and how to not get too angry in arguments. I'd never have found the Escapecraft Minecraft server too, which is full of awesome.

...Well, that was far too personal.

Not at all.

The internet wasn't around when I was a kid and by the time Dial Up became a "thing" I was in the army and didn't have access anyway.

Left the army a couple of years ago, knocking on 30 then, so by the time I got my own internet I was an adult with kids of my own.

Already seen the shit of the world, the internet can show me nothing new.

Although with how much my kids use the web it does make me wonder how we managed without it ... and we didn't have mobile phones either.

Plus nothing really bothers me enough to get me annoyed. I'm generally a happy fella with nothing to grumble about ..... apart from the twat next door who keeps parking in my space.

Several people have said things like that today and I don't really get it, I've had my Bioshock avatar for months and no-one's said anything until now 0.o

Everyone who has that appears to be a Publisher's Club Member.

OT:

I haven't really noticed any changes. I think I'm pretty much the same, if not a bit better.

Well, because of the internet I was able to meet and get together with my wonderful boyfriend, who saved my ass when I needed it most.

That, and because I get the feeling he'll see this at some point (he's a member of this site for one, for two he's a bit of a nosy bastard), I WUV YOU MR. BOYFRIEND!! <3 *makes kissy faces*

Tee-hee, I love messing with him. X3

I'm not crazy/obsessive, I swear.

I have a love-hate relationship with the internet. On one hand, it completely desensitized me and made me more cynical and sarcastic, to an almost suffocating extent early on.

On the other hand, though, it's done wonderful things for me as well. I crafted a lot of lasting friendships in a certain forum that I frequent, and I credit the Escapist itself for giving me a more open-minded approach to life. I'd probably be a hateful bigot by now had I not discovered this website and its forums.

Also, I have the privilege of being reminded of the wonders of The Hopper every time I post here, so there's that.

How odd, the Escapist can be a strange place sometimes, it wouldn't surprise me if the system can do funny things occasionally.

Don't lie. I noticed this myself and it's being done manually. A couple of people doing this have the wrong set of badges; Dr. Susse has the wrong center badge for instance.

I can look at a guy putting his dick in to a meat grinder and mashing it in to a fine paste and not flinch.
no joke I have seen that and much more on 4chans gore thread, it has also allowed me to indulge my more chaotic side instead of having it bottled up constantly.

also porn, loads of porn.

The Internet has made me lose my innocence, but I found bundles of positivity in other places to make up for that, such as the Escapist. :)

I also would be part of a homogenized mass in the real world, something I detest from the bottom of my soul, if not for the Internet. I want to make an impact, not be part of the crowd. The Internet is one of the many things that inspired me to promise to myself to never be 'ordinary' and 'safe.' My promise to myself is to be different and push my boundaries, something that has changed my life drastically. I'm happier than ever since my promise, and I'll continue to be for the rest of my time on this Earth.

So that's the effect that the Internet had on me. It's something deep for me.

Oh you're still going on about that?
It's crazy talk I don't see anything.
[sup][sup]Told ya it would work.[/sup][/sup]

OT: Eh, I'd probably be dead in a ditch somewhere if it wasn't for the Internet, I'll leave it at that.

I'm not the only one noticing it, and it's obviously not a site glitch since people are aware of it and are altering their theme as such.

Eh, whatever though. Not good to derail the thread into shit like this though. You guys keep doing what you're doing and fuck with people some more I guess.

It's made me more of an invert, but it's made me feel much more comfortable with my sense of humor. There are people worse than I am.

If theres one thing I learned from the internet is that it is home to some of the most ignorant, childish, misogynistic, selfish. racist, coward-like, sociopathic, idiotic humans on the earth, and a safe haven for them if I might add.
What I did enjoy learning was that there were actual sensible human beings on the internet as well. So I decided "Those guys are cool, I wanna be like those guys". And so I did.

Obviously I've been living by the whole "Treat people the way you want to be treated" ways so yeah... I'm a pretty good guy off and on the internet.

The internet also introduced me to a unique form a humor, and an interest in writing, flash animation, and voice acting.

OT: I've been an internet vet for a number of years now. I have yet to visit the infamous 4chan and Reddit. The plan for the rest of my life involving the internet: Never visit the infamous 4chan or Reddit. I'll stick to The Escapist.

Lost my innocence to all the hentai

Lost my faith in mankind once I found Fox News and discovered after 6 hours that it wasn't actually satire.

I'm surprised people haven't mentioned the social networks yet. I used to be on Facebook and then I one day had enough of it - not because of stuff that usually ends up on failbook, but more because it made out that everyone seemed to be living very content, sociable, incredibly exciting lives. I rationally know that that isn't the case, but it did cause me to be envious of the social ties and fun people were having when all I did was stay in, read, or play video games. So you could say that the internet has made me aware of what I know I *don't* like - ever since I've deactivated my facebook account I've become much happier and have stopped giving so much of a shit. :D
