On the Escapist im new. Especially compared to many of the members that have been here for a long time. Ive been a member for just under 2 months, and it hit me recently that in barely 2 months so much has changed in my life! I'm now in a wonderful relationship with a girl i love, I got a new job, I got a new dog (it means a lot to me) and other little things. Thats all in 2 months, and for that amount of time it seems like a lot.

So it got me thinking, if that much has changed for me in 2 months, how much has changed for my fellow members since they joined the Escapist community?

I've been in college and have become even more stingy with my cash (only spent 50 dollars last year on games)

Been on the site for more than 2 years. Since then I have:

-Had my first job.
-Played tons of music.
-Made friends, lost friends.
-Gradually played less and less video games.
-Filled up my head with ridiculous internet culture.
-Gotten more social.
-Thought I found my calling, but it wasn't.
-Had my first girlfriend.
-Traveled to Denmark for said girlfriend.
-Gotten more and more concerned for my future.
-Lost my virginity.
-Found out my sexual interests and fetishes(a bigger deal than losing my virginity)
-Experienced a long-distance relationship(in the process of which)
-Learned to drive a car.
-Gotten drunk(not at the same time that I learned to drive)
-Experienced the death of my dear pet.
-Spent too many hours on this site and on the internet in general.
-Discovered that if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have done a lot of the above.

Well I'm on my second laptop since I've come on the escapist. I made it into college as well. I've noticed I've become more mature with age and I've had my ups and my downs through the time I've been on here. It's sad that I'm going through a very down time at the moment :/

it has definetly changed

I went from being rather unahppy with myself to being VERY happy with myself (you know, a healthy amount of self-esteem, nothing over the top)

from screwing around with my life to having my first real job...finally having MONEY lots of MONEY..and with that money have all thease awsome things I would never have had before

It's been a long time. Four years and four months is time enough for quite a bit of change.

I ran a buisness, sold it. Spent a year off. Got a job, decided I don't really like working for someone else.

March 2010: Nothing much, really, I've gotten older, and the people around me have gotten older...

This year coming is going to have a lot of changed, but since 2009, things have been pretty consistent.

Uh... well, I've generally become more knowledgeable. But that's due to a number of factors. I've experimented with pot, and decided to join the Royal Marines.

I've also started doing awesome things with my hair...

Since joining the Escapist I've done my GCSE's and I've gone on to do A levels. First year was fine. Now I've realized I want to be a singer, baring in mind everyone wants me to go to uni. Sucks.

Changed schools (due to politics with the principal)

Moved into a bigger room in my house that I got to redecorate completely and now it looks like a technical lab/office.

Finished my 3-year journey of building a high-end gaming pc.

Have new clothes I actually like.

Dyed my hair black.

Lost over 10 kilograms.

Made completely new friends.

Started new hobby of playing paintball.

Etc.

Life is pretty much going where I dreamed for it to go a few years ago.

I got a new computer and broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years, so overall, not a great change.

Well I passed my driving test, repaired the somewhat distant relationship with some of my family and have been afflicted with a mystery illness for just over a year now. Still, the prospect of a well-paid career is homing into view in the near horizon.

It's been a strange 20 months.

Well. . . A lot of people died around me, none of them I was close to, but I find it say how distant I feel from death. I mean, I meet people and them dying, I feel less than I think I should. I left my parents, my parents got divorced (Which made me more aggresive in general. Dunno how) I got more social, but still feel awkward in conversations. I've been to 4 different schools (Expect this one to be the last one) Joined a political group. Been supporting said group the best I could (Not a lot really) Got into Anime, watched 'ALL' the anime (Not really, just what I think Appealed to me) And when there was nothing left I found interresting I stopped till stuff I was interrested came out again 'not really happened in the past half a year'. Matured, a lot. Back when I was 15 I thought I could change the world by telling everyone their opinion was wrong and mine was right. Well, I still do that to an extend, but I dont expect them to change their opinion, or the fact that im trying it would change the world. Although I still hold a lot of the same ideals, I just do more to spread them than before, advertising in real-life does a lot more than advertising it to americans *Who'd have thunk* I was told by teachers and parents that I had depression, them being the adults it was hard for me to fight them on the subject, but I never got diagnosed and I dont want to either, so I got happier, or well. More open anyway (Look happier, not actually being happier. Makes people stop bothering you)
