How I can Categorize the comics I read?

So, I read a lot of kind of comics as well like American comics, europian, web comics, manga, rtc.
So a quick question I have is how I can categorize them?

I mean, I guess you could categorize them by origin (Nationality or Region), year produced, genre, theme, the actual comic titles themselves, art style...

I have a habit and I categorize everything i read/watch/play in general.
Right now I created a suitable Catalog with the videogames I play.
Now I need to find a good way to categorize Comics as well. Right now the categories I had is a mess...

For physical copies I like to go by color, it looks pretty striking if you have a whole shelf of red books in your room

Ah, sorry. I don't categorize the physical books I have. I only save a pic of a cover from a comic I read and then I categorize it inside a file.

Just count 'Internet' as another Region like Eastern, European, and American.

Just count 'Internet' as another Region like Eastern, European, and American.

Ok, I think I found a solution. here what I think I can do:

- Comics I Read, Eastern Series
- Comics I Read, Eastern One-Shots
- Comics I Read, American Series
- Comics I Read, American One-Shots
- Comics I Read, European Series
- Comics I Read, European One-Shots
- Comics I Read, Internet Series
- Comics I Read, Internet One-Shots

Sound good to me.

There are many publisher in general, so i don't think is a good idea.
If you think we have some publishers as well in Greece, think how many files i must create for publishers from Japan and USA.

I guess I just don't understand the point of categorizing by country, as that has little to nothing to do with the content of the comics itself. To me it's a bit like categorizing cars by color. Other than having pleasing looking groups of vehicles, what has actually been accomplished?

I categorize my movies alphabetically by main genre (action, comedy, comic book etc.) then alphabetically by title in each genre. When it comes to a series of movies I have the sequels with the first movie regardless of title (i.e Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi then Spaceballs).
A similar way would work for comics
Main publisher (Marvel, DC, Vertigo etc.) then by Main character Title (Batman, Deadpool, Preacher etc.) with each book in sequential order by particular arc.

Mostly enjoyment really. I am doing only because I really love to see pictures of past comic/videogames/movies/etc I experienced and remembering the past.

For example I played 3.123 videogames [no counting videogames I forgot I played when I was younger] and by listing them it give me a sense of history for my part.

Some people like to categorise their comics according to region: so you get "American" comics, "European" comics, "manga" (which is how they call comics in Japan) etc. It's also possible to distinguish between physical media and "web comics", so to speak.

While globalization and multiculturalism are becoming more and more prevalent, most works are still grounded in some kind of cultural context. For example, they will, without explanation, refer to things/themes/events that belong to the collective memory of a specific country, or (sometimes unintentionally) feature a specific cultural perspective. So, there IS something to be said for this way of organizing things.
But I do see what you mean; organization by genre, or tone, or settings, seems to be more practical. Depends on what the functional goal of the order is in the end.

You should categorise them according to which letters of the alphabet occur most commonly in them.

Mine are by publisher, then genre, then title, the year of publication. I find that to be the easiest way to find what I want.

True about that, but because I categorize them with pictures, most of the time I understand what kind of comics are by the look of it.
