Anyway, I like nukes lovely mushroom clouds. Potential for rapid mutations/evolution in the fallout zones of their use. I just can't help but love the pinnacle of Humanity's Gift for self-destruction

Ionizing radiation can break down DNA inside a persons cells, mostly this results in cell death, but in some cases it can do minor enough damage that all you would get is a terminal case of cancer. Mutation from radiation is a myth. Your bodies heals from the exposure, it kills your slowly, it kills you fast, it might even kill you softly with his song. It does not make you grow a flipper out of your ass.

Also while I do like the message of the quote, I hate it being attributed to Einstein. He never said it.

no i dont think nukes should be around but there is no way of getting rid of them unless you pop a "happy pill" in every world leaders coffee in the mornings.

My opinion is that the damn things are just another weapon. Like Aircraft, artillery, flamethrowers and gunpowder. We just need to figure out a countermeasure.

Yeah, you don't know. Nuclear weapons can be detected before impact and aren't kept in a single stockpile.

My opinion: a necessary evil that has also brought about some good.

i disagree...if you nuke the 10 biggest cities in a country...your pretty fucked needing to send alot of military forces, aid and money into those 10 cities.

I see your point, honestly I didn't think there would be any country stupid enough to stockpile them in one place, but with the rate that all of humanity seems to be going...well lets just say i wouldn't doubt it

I like nukes they serve a great purpose here.
What is it? Well, it kept the US from going to war with the USSR. If it wasn't for nukes that war would have definitely gone "hot". It is also a great deterrent in the world today. It keeps all the big nations that have nukes from going after each other, and most probably the big nations will never use them. I am more doubtful of the rogue nations like Iran and NK, but I also advocate showing them what happens when they decide that they want nukes.

Nukes have to exist in todays society, now that they're here... its a horrible, horrible fact, I know, but its true. If two major opposing sides both have a stash of nuclear bombs, it can actually prevent a war, ironically enough... same reason why WWIII never happened during the Cold War, nobody in a major political position is stupid enough to take the risk.

If nukes were never invented, that would be a much more convenient alternative.

Without nukes, conventional warfare would be rife. Right now, its a case of you attack me i destroy your country. They are all that keeps the status quo.
