How important are graphics to you.

With the help of a 2500K overclocked I probably could. But I've been procrastinating fixing the CMOS RAM problem in my motherboard on my desktop for over a month right now. I've been moving houses into a fixer upper for a long time now and cleaning and such. And gaming on my considerably weaker gaming laptop.

You see, it's much easier gaming on my gaming laptop right now because I've been doing a lot to the floors and walls and I don't really have much that's plugged into the walls right now. Like no flat screens at all, they're still in the boxes. Same with my PlayStation 3 and other systems.

So I would probably normally have the horsepower to do so right at the moment, but... no... sorry.

I can show you some official videos the PCSX2 developers have created themselves, though.
Go on to youtube and click the 1080p button yourself. I think you'll be impressed. Though they didn't showcase the best possible footage for many things. For instance, the cutscenes in Final Fantasy X look fantastic. The models for Auron look especially high fidelity.

Then again, I suppose I am easily impressed. After all, I like my 16-Bit graphics.

Thanks for the video. It didn't look that much different in my view, though. The original textures were good enough for me when I was using a 29'' cathode ray tv. It just seems to give the whole thing a polished feel.

Well the other people who have replied seemed to have no problem figuring out what "graphics" means. I'm sorry that you seem to have difficulty with that. And exactly how am I showing disrespect to the community, I have said anything to disrespect them as a whole. Whats showing disrespect to the community is people like you who go to threads they don't like simply to complain about them. All I was trying to accomplish was ask the communities opinion on a subject, you did not have to take part in the discussion at all, but you chose to. And what was it that you had to contribute? You talk about me fostering a cynical attitude in the forums, when that is exactly what you are doing by taking part in discussions solely to complain about them and making this a very hostile environment for those of us who wish to actually contribute. Sure my first thread may not have been completely original or groundbreaking, but at least I was able to spark discussion with out being hostile. So please if you have nothing to actually contribute please go be a miserable cynic somewhere else.

After my last post, I figured it best to mention that you ain't an "asspicker". I am really enjoying using the term though. Since you had someone come in to slam the thread, I will reinforce it. I just ask that you don't ever post a webshow episode or article as your opinion, pretty please since we're on the subject.

Also: Full Dynamic Lighting in STALKER SOC looks amazing! I'd be sad to play without it...

Ah, one of "those" conversations. The problem is neither one is MORE important both have a bar they must reach to be acceptable. For instance, Dwarf Fortress is lauded as having great gameplay but it is hampered for me because I don't want to have to look up what a "[" represents in the game. It's graphics impedes the accessibility of its gameplay. On the reverse end, L.A. Noire, while having a good story and graphics the gameplay is a bit impeded. These two things are not at odds with one another, so comparing them is a little off. They are actually parallel more often than not. As well, gameplay is one of those things that is a milage may vary thing. Many people ***** about the combat system in Skyrim while others find it a great improvement. Graphics can be measured by some type of standard, gameplay cannot.

Posting an article/episode about your opinion is one thing, (like as a reference) I don't see anything wrong with linking something to back up your opinion. Posting it as your opinion is another. Some people on this board will post a Jimquisition/Extra Credits video or article and say something along the lines of "This is my opinion just worded better than I can do myself" or some other bullshit statement. Just recently in Jim's letter about why he can't defend the industry anymore and a lot of people were responding with "OMG, he worded my opinion so beautifully" - no, he worded his opinion very well. God forbid people use that as a springboard for thought, they would rather just try to claim some sort of psuedo-ownership over the article.
As I said before I could go on for a while about how retarded statements like that are but honestly it isn't worth it.

I would easily play/replay a game from say 2000. I could eaily replay the old Mario. Graphics aren't a problem for me. Useless they were tring for photo realism in like the 80s. Thats when I probably wouldn't play a game because of the graphics.

I enjoy good graphics, but they won't save a bad game.
I don't mind aged graphics, as long as I can tell what things are supposed to be.
I dislike graphics that are so bad that they can actually bother you.

graphics don't matter, but great aesthetics are what counts, I mean look at rayman origins and at Call of Duty MW3. rayman as technically shit graphics (as its a 2d game) but the aesthetics make it look so much better then the grey and brown COD

Graphics are nice and all, but to me it all goes down to gameplay
i'd rather have a nice flowing fun game (like Bayonetta), then a super fancy looking game with plot holes and repetitive gameplay.(BattleField 3[no hate for the game... just saying is all]).
