Occasionally he asks me if there are any games released recently that I want, pretty much all the time I say "no".

Also occasionally he asks me what game I'm playing or who I'm playing with, surprisingly often the answer would be "Halo", and then "random people".

Also also occasionally he asks me why I'm not playing with my friends, I say "they're playing Call of Duty instead".

One time he immediately went out and bought Modern Warfare 3 for me. I didn't even ask for it. He's awesome.

Well before he was tragically taken by cancer he played a pretty big part, I wouldn't be as big a gamer as I am today if it weren't for him. I remember getting constant neck-strain playing the PS1 wit him because the only way we could play was using a tiny CRT on top of a piano, and I remember him coming home with our PS2 and a copy of Ratchet and Clank (I think) and being overjoyed. Good times... ;_;

My father sat me down to play my first video game when I was 3. He was often getting used games for us, and he also shared his love for tabletop games with me at a young age. I've been designing games ever since, and probably would be an outdoorsman if it weren't for him. Alas, it's a shame that the world doesn't stay perfect forever. But, what can I say. When the world rains fire and brimstone, you need to walk away from it, and try not to look back.

My step-dad loves games, but he's mostly into retro gaming. We can chat about games occasionally, and he and my mum bought me a few consoles.

My actual dad... ehhh. I got his PS1 after he moved out because he left it, and I used to play Spider-Man a lot when I went round his house.

My dad is quite involved in gaming, especially sports games, but he seems to like nothing more than watching me or my brother play a game and give some of his own witty commentary. Today in fact, he sat down and played some Resident Evil 4 and spent time lamenting that there isn't enough Johnny Bravo (that's what he likes to call Wesker).

My dad was never into gaming.
I don't remember him ever even playing the NES with us. Now he's too intimidated by the complexity of most modern games to even try.

I bet he would like Angry Birds, if he could figure out a smart phone.

He did try the Wii, but it was the Wii after all. The entire world played the Wii for like a month and then lost interest.

My father is not involved in gaming whatsoever. Back when I was younger, he used to play a decent amount of Tetris but apart of that, he never got in to gaming.

He tried to stop it at every turn and I noticed his swear word vocabulary grew extensively while doing so.
Sadly he is one of those who was born an old man, anything he wasn't told by the age of 5 simply does not fit into his world, games are just tip of the iceberg.

Once he saw me playing Counter-Strike and it was the beginning of the round when you have to buy all that shit very fast and he was like "how do you manage do to all that stuff at the same time?"

Yeah, not very involved.

He got me into gaming as a child. It was because of him I stumbled upon Warcraft 3, which I played for years. He got the first rpg I ever played(Dragon Age: Origins) and that is what really cemented me into gaming. I owe the fact that I am this much of a gamer to my father.

I'd say fairly involved.

Him and my mom would take us kids to their friends house where they would have some drinks and play Mario Bros on NES.
I distinctly remember my mother leaning forward every time Mario would hit a coin block.

After that my mom kind of fell out of it, with only a brief resurgence many many many years later when she joined my dad again playing Tiger Woods golf.

My dad however has always played since then. Never played much N64 or SNES, but he loved Final Fantasy 7 and the Playstation in general. He's the one who bought Diablo for the PS and set me down that incredible path forever more.

Playstation took up a lot of his time. He was way into Diablo, Front Mission 3, Final Fantasy Tactics and Panzer/Allied General. I do believe he didn't get to play the PS2 when it launched much, however he made up for it long after the consoles hay days by getting embroiled in Champions of Norrath, Final Fantasy 12, and the afore mentioned Tiger Woods.

When his life long friend whom, he would play golf with passed away from cancer, he stopped playing golf games altogether.

After I myself discovered Morrowind on the Xbox, I quickly turned him on to it, and before I knew it he had picked up a used Xbox and a copy of the game. He played extensively, and loved that game.

After he lost all the consoles, I caught him playing Diablo 2 on the PC. He had NEVER played a PC game, and I wasn't sure if he'd be able to adapt. But sure enough, every morning for the next month or so he'd be up with his coffee slaying the lord of terrors minions. Sometime after that I showed him Torchlight and he really liked it, and eventually got it as well.

Nowadays he's playing Path of Exile. I don't know how, that computer barely barely runs it, frequently dropping far past playable frame rates. But he never complains, never quits. Just keeps plugging along.
He's about 63 now by the way.

I remember back in my NES days, I couldn't even get past world 1-1 on super mario bros. without my dad's help. We played a lot of NES together. I wouldn't be a gamer now if not for that.

He used to bring me to a local computer store (which was absolute garbage, but he was friends with the guy who ran it). And I got to play a handful of games before they were released.

I played Civ 1, Wolfenstein, One of the Super Solver games, Commander Keen 4, 5, and 6, Laura Bow 1, and a few other that I don't remember.

Other than that he played video games every now and than and he let me watch until I was older enough to understand them. (5 year old me couldn't figure out the shoot button on Wolfenstein 3D and I ended up dying in the first room.)

My dad doesn't really game these days.

But when I was a kid, we got a PS1. We all spent a lot of time on it, and my dad loved Crash Bandicoot, and my mum kept playing some bubble shooter game.

Nowadays, not so much. My mum plays a few casual games on her iPhone, and my dad doesn't really bother with them. I managed to get him to play a game of ODST firefight with me, once. It only lasted a few rounds, during most of which he was shooting at the ceiling.

My father wasn't present when I had my first gaming experience on the old NES, my mom did that. Come to think of it my dad never really got involved in my gaming. Back when me and my brothers were kids we played the ps2 a lot and sometimes when we were playing my father would join us on the couch and ask us what we were playing and what the goal was of the game. He'd then comment about how some feats in those game were ridiculously unrealistic, it was fun. Nowadays my father doesn't get involved in my gaming at all. Except for those rare moments I decide to make use of my pc's VGA port to use the TV to play dead space. He then sat next to me for fifteen minutes as I cut up the necromorphs and it felt like those times when we played on the PS2 and he'd watch... I miss quality time with my father. :/

Erm, I involved my father in gaming. Seems I'm the first one in this thread to do so. Anyway, after I got my first PC and got some games for it, he saw me playing...I think it was Half-Life, first and he liked it, so he asked me to show him how to play. After he picked up the controls, he was set to go. It's still one of his favourite games. He likes action-y games, like HL, and Comanche 4 also strategies - Red Alert 2 and Generals are among his top played games.

I once told my dad to press control alt whilst he was having a PC problem ... I might as well have been speaking Latin.

My dad couldn't get past a console menu let alone play an actual game.

Father's Day is the 5th of june here, but okay.
My father can barely operate a keyboard with more than two fingers, much less play any sort of game more advanced than what you can find on facebook.
Having been born in a third-world country might also have something to do with it.

Absolutely no interest from him, he is into technology so he expresses interest in online functions or the glass free 3D of the 3DS. I think if gaming ever got into holograms or virtual reality, he'd probably have more interest. Although he does think the idea of Animal Crossing is really cool, especially since the town will grow weeds and a the animals will remark about your extended absence if you don't play for a while.
