I am a sad dragon today. For I went to Gamestop to get Bayonetta 2 and they were sold out.

No- I didn't preorder mainly because I wasn't sure I would have the funds for it, so now I'm just gonna mope a bit before I buy the game on Amazon for cheaper anyway.

So how is the game going for you guys?

For returning Bayonetta fans- does it live up to the first one?

For the newcomers giving it a shot, do you like it? hate it? What are your thoughts?

All I ask is for minimal spoilers. (or if your going to spoil it put it in the spoiler tag.) Tumblr has been good to me for not giving away half the plot through gifsets due to over zealous fans, and I've made sure to avoid the heck out of Youtube Let's plays revolving Bayonetta.

I hope that in days time it will have good sales. (And by good I mean 500k sales or something. Remember MK8 made 2 million first week.)

As a huge Bayonetta 1 fan, I was unbelievably hyped for #2.

And it's meeting all of my expectations.

The only thing I'm worried about is how long it is. I've heard it's shorter than the 1st, which is worrying, but as long as it gets as crazy as Bayo 1's ending I'll still be happy.

I mostly picked it up because it comes with the first one, which I'd never played.

So far I've reached Chapter III of the first game, and it had quite the difficulty spike between Chapter I and II. But I've been enjoying it so far. It's pretty blindingly obvious that it was made by the guy responsible for Devil May Cry, but it has a much smoother combat system. And I just unlocked a katana, too! As somebody who knows nothing about either game (except that the first one ends with you killing God or something) I'm kinda excited to see what other unlockables and whatnot are in the games.

It's possible. There are currently Japanese gameplay footage out there. I sincerely hope though that the shorter plot is made up in the online multiplayer section. Which seems to have a lot of stuff worth going for. (Those Treehouse reps got fucking wrecked before the game even started.)

If it's meeting your expectations than I know this isn't going to be a game I regret buying.

I heard there are quite a bit of customizable weapons you can acquire like a bow and arrow. I won't go to deep since I don't want to spoil you. The second game supposedly has a much broader range.

Also your at that part of the game. Can't tell you how much I rage quit in a span of 30 minutes in game at that point.

I really appreciate that the voice that says 'THE SHADOW REMAINS CAST' is more exasperated and ragged this time around.

I havent got very far I was playing P4 Ultimax (which is awesome) and wanted a break so decided to put Bayo 2 on for a while and my mind was blown its absolutely frikkin amazing I havent got very far just to the start of chapter 2 at the moment which from the above posts is where it gets harder which I welcome atm as I breezed through the prologue and Chapter 1 with narely a scratch although I am only playing on climax 2 so normal difficulty.

Seriously though I havent smile so much playing a game since Asuras Wrath and the action in this game is just as amazing as it was in the original Bayonetta. The only thing I have seen that I did not like much was the invisible treasure chests where you have to collect the 5 fragments in a time limit to unlock luckily they have all been ridiculously easy so far but I just dont like that kind of task in any game.

I played Bayo 1 on the 360 and tbh on normal difficulty I was not impressed then I decided to turn it up to hard and everything came together I did finish it on Infinite Climax without much difficulty but hard mode was more fun because witch time is so amazing and losing that on the hardest setting made the fights less fun I dont know if Bayo 2 will have any attack as insane as the kilgore switch combo though.

So far Bayonetta 2 is better or as good as anything in Bayonetta 1 the combat in both is sublime the highpoint of the genre still nothing touches it not even the other action games by Platinum imo which are pretty damn good (with a few exceptions)

Bayo 2 just has better art direction than the first one so far, better cutscenes and writing already the story is better than that near indecipherable boring mess that the first one had it also looks better graphically (as you would expect) and has much better use of colour.

There is still plenty of time for the game to dissapoint but at this early point all I was thinking while playing was OH MY GOD THIS IS FRIKKIN AMAZING!!! so yeah GOTY for me so far and if it keeps escalating the way it does it will likely be one of my favourite games ever. So glad I got a WiiU for this game I was really really looking forward to it and it has exceeded my expectations so far.

I am going to wait much later to give a final verdict when I have finished it on normal at the very least but yeah so far cant say enough nice things about it its just a joy to play and watch and the cutscenes actually engaged me this time but most of all its just one of those very rare games that makes me glad I play videogames.

If you have a WiiU get this game if you love action games get a WiiU and get this game if your on the fence get this game if you hate action games or fun give it a miss.

I suck at it, but well worth getting a Wii U, definitely. i'm on normal mode, getting nothing but silver and bronze.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I enjoyed Bayonetta a ton and I'm enjoying part 2 even more, the combat flows just as well if not better. The plot is just as impenetrable if not more so. The action is just as much over the top if not more so. You getting the idea? It's one of those sequels that manages to do pretty much everything better than the first game. Even the multiplayer is really fun in it and in the few games I played it didn't have any lag that I could see. If you didn't like the first Bayonetta then part 2 won't change your mind, but if you did then you want Bayonetta 2 and I would say its worth the system price of admission.

I loved the first game and Bayonetta 2 is totally awesome. Honestly if you own a Wii U and haven't played either game the fact that the first and second game come packaged together is a pretty great deal.

I'm very happy so far. It didn't try a whole lot new, but I honestly didn't want it to. You get new weapons, new moves, new enemies, etc. It's fresh but familiar. I just love the amount of camp and energy platinum is able to bring to a game. I basically sit there smiling with joy and giggling while all the silly cutscenes play out.

Also, it seems like they got Helena Noguerra to cover Moon River this time (after the amazing Fly Me To The Moon cover from Bayonetta 1). It's bloody awesome. Honestly I want this series to continue so we can keep getting wicked Sinatra covers lol.

(Music nerd note: I know Sinatra was not the creator of either of these songs, but he's the common denominator between them).

I had never played the first one so getting two games for 60? was a pretty good deal and they seemed like games I might enjoy.
I bought it on Friday and had Friday, Saturday and Sunday free, so I played Bayonetta 1 on Fri and Sat, 8 hours each day and got through the story mode, was a fun game, I pretty much rished through it not caring about how well I did (I DIED A LOT) but the game was fun and the port worked well. Had herd the port for Bayo 1 to PS3 was badly done.

Then on Sunday I started playing the second one and this one I decided I actually try to get achievements and not die and do as well as I can. The second one has upped everything from the first one, the game is very enjoyable. More stuff to collect, new enemies, more challenges, online play (has yet not tried that) more costumes, more characters, better graphics, runs more smoothly etc etc. Really enjoying it.

Also for you people reading this, I need friends to play the online tag team mode in Bayo 2.
So if you're interested come join the "WiiU Online Multiplayer" user group here on the Escapist and let's smash monsters together :D

I feel tempted to go out and buy Bayonetta 1 on PS3. I mean, hell, I own Tomb Raider 2013 on X360, X1 and PC, why not own Bayonetta 1 in it's best (360), worst (PS3) and more unique version (Wii U)?

OT: As I loved the first game so much (it's easily one of my favourite games) and the Demo was a simple delight, I'm sure B2 is going to be wonderful. I will figure out quite shortly.

Well, I beat the game already. I beat the first one on the PS3 awhile back. So, I know quite a bit about the game so far.

1) Yes, it's fun
2) The combos are a bit easier to pull off in the second one as opposed to the first
3) Dodging is a lot easier in the second game
4) The second game is a lot more colorful and it's much brighter. As a result, it's prettier!
5) Bayonetta is a lot more expressive in the second game. Her facial animations are much better.
6) The game gives you items right off the bat in the second game.
7) The second game is just easier...
8) Rodin is a lot more active in the second game.
9) Multiplayer is much harder (even with a buddy).

You should save yourself the money and simply buy the unique pack which includes Bayonetta 1 (IT HAS COSTUMES) and 2.

I heard the first game on the Wii U plays nicely, and they cleaned up the graphics a bit.
