I'm my defense I only how this because it came up on that annoying pop up when you sign into AIM.

Anyway, according to this poll Miley Cyrus is the worst influence on teens to which I ask: How? Ok maybe she tells young girls you can get famous through mediocre acting and selling out to Disney but the same goes for pretty much anything that graces the Disney logo. At least the modern things. Anyway, the poll also lists others, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, Amy Whinehouse, and Britney spears. How the hell does Miley Cyrus win?

I'm not defending Cyrus, I don't like the show or her music (I did think she hot 3 years ago but then I hit puberty)but how does she beat out druggies, people with sex tapes, and what ever you want to describe the rest of them as. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather my daughter be a bad singer then a good singer with drug problems.

She gives the impression on Disney she's all fun and loving but really she's a bit of a harlot. And my example of this is the fact she's like what? 16? And she was posting pictures of her sitting on some guys lap on the internet.

That is not a good role model. (In my eyes)

because she's presented as a good influence to begin with

the others are known to be bad influences to begin with

that.. makes all the difference

America has this strange thing where people who are in the public eye aren't allowed to behave in a sexual manner. I don't get it. Most 16 year old girls experiment with sexual stuff, but suddenly they're in the public eye and they have to pretend that they're squeaky clean angels all the time? I think putting up a facade of candy-coated angelic bullshit is far more offensive than sitting on someone's lap.

Likewise, look at the way people reacted in America to the Bill Clinton thing. So he got a little bit of action on the side from the intern, so what. If that was in my country we would have bought him a beer.

Other people have already said it, but it's because she dresses like a total whore and is presented as a good influence to kids. How can this even be legal? I'm one of the first people to call bull when someone mentions the liberal agenda but crap like this really makes me think long and hard about that.

I know people are stupid but sometimes I have to go into denial a little bit to restore what little faith I still have in humanity.

In the USA's defence. It isn't just them. Us Brits also frown upon it too. Don't be so stereotypical.

Ok, so it's fine for someone who represents DISNEY to act like that? Don't get me wrong, sure she can have some fun. But to post it on the internet? It's a shitstorm waiting to happen.

The generally wholesome way she was initially presented is the problem imo, along with her target audience is the problem. Britney, Lohan, Winehouse and co have been targeting an adult audience for some time, while the increasing sexual awareness of Cyrus aimed at the Disney crowd while getting her across to an adult audience is a bad mix. Combine that with the delusional morality to her Hannah Montana show and you have an incredibly poor influence on kids that masquerades as something more than the slutty commercialisation the more established pop stars adhere to.

She is the worse influence explicitly targeted at kids. Portraying sexual development according to Miley's own personal progression rather than the personal growth of the individual is biggest problem imo. Sexual development is not something that should be a taboo subject imo but it is dealt with in such a superficial manner as far as Miley is concerned. This is a much broader issue than a few misguided photos that surfaced on the web.

I'm a bit drunk but I stand by my point. I'll take the blame for any difficulty it may take to decipher my point though.
