I keep the amount of people close to me relatively low, so I get pretty attached to the ones who make it. If they truly got close, I never get over it.

well to be honest they will never fully leave you but in the sence of carrying on with life its up to you.

Just dont forget all the crap they put you through everytime you remeber them.

It depends on the emotional intimacy of the relationship for me. It took me the better part of two months to get over my last girlfriend, because we had become extremely close friends as well as being physically intimate. The two girls before her though... maybe a week combined. I don't really form an attachment to a girl through physical intimacy, I dunno why. That part always seems to be a by-product of the emotional connection. So that's why it took me so long to get over my last one.
You'll never truly forget about her, so just remember your experiences and move on. Use that experience the next time you're in a relationship.

I felt the strongest I have ever felt for a girl and that didn't go well for me, she didn't feel the same way and I am still not over her. :|

I fear I wont feel the same way about any other girl, I'm sure I will but I still have that fear in the back of my mind.

I love the catchall answer of "it depends".

But really, in my mind it's just as much a question of "what" as it is "when". In my case, my months of misery were ended when I met someone who was just as in the same spot I was, and I realized that I was just being pathetic about the whole thing. Finding some impetus can lead to a much quicker recovery.

Well it took me all of two years to get over this stunning girl who realized that she was with me when she could be with anybody. Yeah. She was that beautiful (and charming and smart and funny). But with average girls (who usually do the breaking up) it usually takes me a couple weeks then I'm okay.

why dwell on something depressing the maximum would be a week. i don't let things like seat backs get me down that is too much energy and i can not possibly use it for that.

my point is that i am lazy and i like to use my laziness to the best i can!

Took me four months. Still coming back around to "normal", but damned close.

I have a new lover, now, to help my get over it... her name is Natalya, and she's a 995ts carbine. The time we spend at the range is magical, and makes all the worries of my past melt away... sigh...

You're gonna have depression spells for the rest of your life when the moment strikes you hard enough, though, so, uh... enjoy that, too.
