If you don't like the humour and the easy game play time sink then this games not for you.
That's about all the game has to offer.

I'm more tolerating the humor than enjoying it, but I really like the game. It stabilizes after you rescue Zimos, and then it's a standard sandbox game except it's significantly more colorful and interesting.

It'll probably take about 40 hours to 100%, from my estimates, which is better than Just Cause 2's 800 hours.

Although if it's the HUMOR that's bothering you, I question your decision to purchase a game where the marketing was based around the four-foot dildo bat.
Saints Row 3 really only takes about 15 (or even less) or so hours to 100%, it really boils down to whether or not you're screwing around. I screwed around a lot and mostly drove every where (flying is the way to go) and I did it in about 17.
Everything is going faster now that I have a V-Tol, I'll admit.

But still, I take longer in games. It took me seven hours to finish Portal, after all.

And yes, I'm screwing around. I'm screwing around non-stop.

Yea I tend to rush through games, I went on a 3 year stint where I literally only had a week to play videogames and I couldn't play videogames until the next year rolled around. So I did my best to cram a year's worth of gaming into a week. I remember blazing through Portal 2 in a single five hour sitting the night before my flight out of the country.

I've played the first 90 minutes or so, and am not liking it much.

IMHO: The story is shit, the driving requires no skill, gunplay isn't challenging, & the humour isnt funny to me.

I don't like SRIII's humour so far for the same reason I don't like slapstick, there is no subtlety. The humour is too"HEY LOOK AT ME I'M ACTING REAL WHACKY HERE!!!!" sledgehammer to face kind of stuff. So, have I seen pretty much what the game has to offer by the 90 minute mark? Or does the humour and gameplay change later on?

cheers.

edit: just want to emphasize that this is IMHO, if you like the story/gameplay/humour, that's great.
You expected subtlety from a game that highlighted giant purple dildos swords in almost all of its promotional videos?

Totally understandable that SR3's humor isn't for everyone. I also totally agree that it's way too easy. You practically get infinite attack helicopters by the end of the first act. They shoulda paced it better.

Yeah it's not for everyone. Personally I love the very immature comedy of the Third, although the Second was the best, and the First was the closest to serious as can be. If you don't like immaturity and non-challenging gameplay then stay the hell away from this game

Yeah same as everyone else if you don't like it now you're not going to later. The 2nd was much better as far as story, tone, ect. I did enjoy the 'fuck it you're a super villain and this world is insane" of Saints Row 3. It's just... not the same.

Can I get a sound off with people who agree with me on one thing? Shaundi being changed to a generic angry action girl sucked all the fun and personality out of her character so hard.

If you don't like the humor, quit. Seriously. That's ALL that Saints Row is about. It's about stupid fun.

As much as I hated her annoying pothead self, I really don't like the change that they did. :\

Give it until you find out that the sky crane (or whatever the hook-lifty-the-cars helicopter is called in SR3) cannot pick up cars, thus rendering it, and the game, pointless.
