So it is bound to happen eventually, but how long till the world leaders are playing video games in their off time? We all know that when you are a world leader you do get some off time to relax and get your sanity back. Usually this is in the form of golf or some other similar activity.

Im guessing in like 20ish years it won't be uncommon to get a picture of a leader sitting down at his PS8 and killing baddies or playing a sports game.

I don't think Sony will get much further than a PS5. The devs would just have to make too much content for the game's graphics to match the console's capabilities. There is always a limit to these things.

On-topic, I don't think they ever will. World leaders have stuff to do.

Obama seems like the type that would play a Civilizations game.

It's all a question of what to do on their free time. If we get a gamer in office, chances are that the few minutes of free time he gets will be spent playing games.

But, dealing with conferences and the legal aspects of the office along with the publicity crap that must be done, not much free time is to be had. The president can't just sit down and play an 8 hour sitting of a new game, or probably even a 2 hour one. There just isn't time.

I heard that municipal leaders are already playing Farmtown during the city council meetings, so, I'd give it a year for World leaders to follow.

I'd imagine he'd play Mercenaries 2. I'd also imagine he probably plays as himself in the game as well.

I think Obama bought his kids a Wii. Maybe he plays it with them every now and then. I doubt our world's leaders will ever become serious hardcore gamers but who knows? For all we know, someday matters of foreign diplomacy will be solved over Xbox Live. (boy that's a scary thought.)

Who cares? I imagine it's started to happen already as the arcade generation has managed to make their way into the halls of power, but again, who cares?

Given what a typical president/prime minister has to do on an average day, I doubt they would have much time for gaming even if they wanted to. I'm sure we'll get gamers as world leaders soon, as those of us who remember the Atari/NES days growing up are getting close to the typical age group for such a position now.

Hopefully it will have the added bonus of derailing the whole "video games make kids sociopaths" hysteria politicians love to trot out when polls are lagging.
