I recognise 4 from each list, not all by name though. I've seen so few anime that are pre-2007 so I reckon that's why I didn't do better. I also stay far away from long-running shows like Bleach.
Got 8 out of 10 on the easy list, and 2 out of 10 on the hard one. though, one of the two I got on the hard list had 2 characters in the image, and I got both of 'em.... so maybe 3 out of 11 hard? XD
all I really got from the exercise is a powerful hankering to read "Monster" again.
I recognized 7/10 of the characters and their shows from the Beginner's list, though I also knew two of the shows for the characters I could not name, so 8 if going by half points. For Advanced, I only recognized the shows for two of them (Baccano and Perfect Blue) but could not remember the names, so 1 point. Haven't seen any of the other shows at all.
Doing it in my head, I managed to recognise the following characters and/or anime, from all the tests posted at the time of writing (so, the main two, plus Platypus540 and Asclepion's lists):
Main 1: Goku; Totoro; L; Ichigo; someone from one of the Digimon series...
Main 2: Johann Liebert; someone from Perfect Blue...
Platypus540: Some dudes from Black Lagoon; Re-L...
Asclepion: Mina Tepes
And that's about it. So, 10 points overall if we count ones where I got the anime right, only 8.5 if we do those as half marks...

9. Pretty sure this is the FBI guy Light murdered in Death Note to learn the names of the other FBI agents researching the Kira case. I believe this is the one who saw him getting off the subway just as he died.

Awesome, and thanks! To be fair, I think mine was a bit difficult really, since I wasn't trying to go for the obvious characters from each of those anime, and with the answer rules for 4 and 6 I guess it's a little harsh. Still, we can be reasonable with number 4, since people who've seen the anime may not necessarily have seen the film as well (IIRC, the only time her hair is like that is in the film, when we see her younger self...).
I tried Shoggoth2588's list too, and got a grand total of...
Oh lord I need to watch more anime. I could only attempt the beginner list, and even then I could only name the actual character names 6/10. I know all the shows though. Little bit disappointed I didn't see a Valkyria Chronicles character in one of those lists.
