I have 'fixed' the question for you:

How many Xbox360's did you have to buy because the damned thing keeps breaking down?

Okay okay, to answer your question: zero

Only one, PGR 3. Here's a recreation of that moment.

*Is just trying his brand-new Xbox 360*
"Gee, I wonder what it looks like standing up."
*turns console up, with the disk still inside*
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
"Oh, damn, thank goodness that's stopped. I'd better lay it down again..."
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz
"Oh, fuck, fuck, it's not stopping!"
*takes disk out*
*notices it's all scratched*
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I've had 3 different consoles and that was the only time I had a disk scratched.

It mostly ruined Sonic Unleashed. It started making weird noises during one of the bosses, froze, and since then about 40% of all stages just don't load. I haven't really touched my 360 for almost 2 years since that, actually.
If the general opinion of Sonic Unleashed is true, it looks like your Xbox did you a favour.

Only one, my copy of GTA IV. And to add insult to brief injury, it also RRoD'd, prompting me to turn it off pretty sharply.

And to answer that question, about 4 or 5, if I include the "REPAIRED!" 360's. It's funny that my second hand Elite has lasted 2 years while a "repaired" one only lasted about 9 months. :p

My xbox runs really well. No discs have been ruined, nor has it ever failed to read a disc (save for a couple of my old xbox games, understandably).

I read this as "How many ducks has your xbox 360 ruined?"

Oh, I wish mine has ruined any ducks.

Number: 0
Reason: Because my system has always worked, and I've never moved the thing after setup.

None, although...

Mine ruined 1 disc which was Call of Duty Modern 4: Modern Warfare. I had the 360 standing vertically and my friend tripped over a cable plugged into it and knocked it over.

Wasn't even my copy of the game so I had to pay the friend I borrowed it from a new copy.
... wait, was the friend who owned the game the same friend who tripped over the cable? Make him pay for his own sodding copy if that's the case. And if it was a different friend, I hope you de-friended his clumsy ass until he reimburses you.

Mine ate Too Human when me cousin tripped over a chord. It was trying to save me hours of frustration and rage, but did I listen? Nope.

one disc. Oblivion. I was in the first few months of owning an 360. I wasnt sure do i want it up or down right now? moved it and within seconds I heard whirrrrrzzzzt. My dad then shouts "NO I LEFT OBLIVION IN!!!" i facepalmed as we never kept the discs in and he had left it for four hours so i had to buy another disc half price too.

That was 4 years ago. None ever since. DONT MOVE YOUR XBOX!

Err... zero. I've always assumed the problem with it chewing up discs was made up. None of my discs are particularly scratched and I have a launch 360 that been through a lot.
I had problems with the original Xbox though and I guess there is a little more scratching than I've noticed with PC games. But nothing to write home about.
