Thrice I believe. The first one was my rock band disc but it was my fault because the xbox 360 was standing upright and fell over. The second two were my fallout 3 disc and my Modern warfare 2 disc that got scratched just from overuse. But, it never scratched any of them beyond repair. One trip to my local Play N' Trade and they were able to fix them using a disc cleaner they have in the store. It's funny, a lot of stores like gamestop only give you the option to trade it in used and so they get to send it to a facility in mexico to have it cleaned for pennies. Then they sell it back to somebody for double what they paid you. That's why I always shop at Play N' Trade now. I figure any store that's willing to do that for their customers deserves my business.

Really? Just...really?
I mean, I can understand learning the hard way if you gently move it. He damned near shook the thing like he was trying to strangle someone.

I've moved my unit a few times with a disc in (unit was off; I don't touch it while it's on), and hell, I've even moved with my 360 in its box, in a trailer, disc inside the unit, and I haven't scratched a disc.

I've never, personally (I'm horribly OCD about taking care of my electronics), but I've had several friends have their discs fixed right in-store at several GameStop locations.

None, because I possess the basic intelligence necessary to not move a device that basically has a fragile gyroscope on the inside.

I did have a red ring a long time ago though.
Let's see, I was thirteen at the time...
Christ, I've had my 360 for six years soon! How time passes... It feels like it was just yesteryear that I was ogling those Oblivion screenshots.

Only one, and that was because someone picked up the Xbox while it was running. Lousy schizophrenic spring cleaning killed Battlefield: Bad Company.

Update: Said incident might have fucked up the disk tray enough on my original 360 to make it inoperable over continued use. I got my current Xbox 360 elite/slim last year in anticipation of the disk drive failing. I fucking called it right. Sent it to one of Microsoft's 3rd world penny-on-the-dollar repairshops, and now it is a healthy fully functioning unit that stands neglected under my bed. Need to see if it still works after the firmware update though.

I don't own one myself, but I was watching a friend play Fable 3 and one of her dogs knocked the console over. Brand new game eaten right there. :(

None. The only time I hear of a 360 eating discs is when it is being moved while it is still on, or its standing up. That is why I always keep my 360 flat
same, mine has never ruined a disc. the only suggestion i can give is that people should avoid moving the console if it has a disc in it.

Three. Well that's a lie, only 2, but the third one is breaking slowly.

Left 4 Dead 2, and two copies of Super Street Fighter IV. My second copy of SSF4 has a crack in the center and is slowly deteriorating, like the first copy, but luckily enough, with the Arcade Edition coming out, I'll just buy that.

I don't think Microsoft designed the Xbox with the thoughts that idiots would shake it with all their retard strength while it was on.

I haven't ruined any games in my Xbox, but my sister ruined her Red Dead Redemption, Modern Warfare 2 discs... and both of my copies on top of that.

My 360? None. but I was over at a friends house playing CoD:WaW when I accendentally knocked over their xbox and destroyed my disc. I don't blame it on the xbox though, any system could have done that would. It was my own fault.

My Xbox 360 did shatter Halo 3, but that's my fault. I had already dropped the case when I moved to my new house, and I noticed a very small crack in the disk. However, the game still ran so I was fine. I guess the disk spinning didn't do the crack any good, and eventually it just broke in half when I was playing.
All is good though, I've got a new copy of Halo 3 (and I hardly ever play it), and my Xbox has run perfectly for 6 years with no problems.

My old xbox360 scratched some fighting game I used to have when I accidentally switched it from upright to horizontal positioning, the disc wasn't playable again. Also it ruined my Mass Effect 1 disc (it's unplayable) because I played it too much (never installed it).

Got a new xbox 360S and I usually just install games on it, haven't had any problems since.

And a DVD drive in a laptop can handle being moved while reading or writing the disc. i would complain to MS because if it cant deal with being moved while running then its a faulty drive.

None whatsoever. I don't move my console while it is on like a lot of stupid people.
