You don't really have to own any, i've played games before which i've lost, had for old consoles or traded in. I only have around 20-30 that i actually have on me.

I've played for years, but i only keep ones that are worth keeping as a collection.

You have to have any. Likewise someone with 100+ games is no authority on what's good or not.

its more about how many years you have played over how many games you have and i would say at least 5 years of gameing
Not really. I think that someone who played a huge amount and variety of games in one year just long enough to understand how they work would have a much greater knowledge of games than someone running the same WoW content for five years.

I have, upon counting, 56 Xbox original, 82 Xbox 360, over 130 ps2 games, I got bored of counting, 13 N64 games, about 30 PSP, 20 GBA and 40 PC. I'd call that a gamer. I've rented and played many hundreds more, as well as bought and sold, these are the ones I have at the moment.
These games all vary in term of genre, from FPS to hack'n'slash to RTS. I've got everyting from XCOM to Modern Warfare, I'd say thats a good knowledge of vidya games

I am 25. My first gaming experience was on the Commodore 64 and in the arcades. I currently own ~250 games, but have more than likely had over a thousand in my lifetime. I understand gaming. Take that for what it's worth.
