I seem to remember Charlie Brooker writing about hats, stating they're not even really clothes but a message, and the message is 'HAAAAT!', in the sense that most hats seem to be worn not for head warmth but just to go 'look at me, I have a haaaat!'.
Of course, that's no bad thing, and then there's the case of my friend who wears a baseball cap not because he likes them, but because he cant be bothered to sort his hair out some mornings.
I make an exception in my rule for him, as usually I feel that 'baseball caps are like pubic hair, you can remove it, but it wont change what was underneath.'
Damn, I'm just a big ol' mountain of negativity aint I?
but then I don't have a nice hat.
