How many of you are math geeks?

I'm a huge math geek. I just love, well, I don't exactly know what I love about math. But I'm a huge nerd none the less. I spend most of my free time fumbling around with some math formula. Like I mean, I am a huge math geek. Does anyone know what quaternions are? Case in point.

I also think I'm the first person to figure out a formula to directly calculate the volume of a pentagonal pyramid, given a side length.

Any one else share my same crazy obsession with math?

I think math is fun when there's a fun guy teaching it.

Case in point: Our teacher tends to be very sarcastic. Whenever we learn a new subject, he gives us a sample "ominous" problem, just to prove that we don't know how to do it. After anyone solves said problem, and of course if they didn't do it right, he would always yell "Wrong!!!" much like Lex Luther on the new superman movie.

Math is alright.

It's really easy. I don't say I'm a geek or nerd though. I just do what the professors give out for homework and do it.

I'm a reformed math geek.

Algebra and below- never did my homework, always understood it, and can apply it like nobody's business.

Calc I- I'll admit that if I hadn't done my homework, I'd have had no idea what was going on in that class. I did well enough to where I used to tutor math up throught Calc I.

Calc II- I struggled a bit with the tougher integrals, but managed to retain a good chunk of what I learned in that class. It was scary at the time to have worried about a grade in a math class, though...

Calc III- is a crock of shit. How the hell are you supposed to make a 3D graph on 2D paper? Really? (I do know how, but give me a break.) I didn't understand hardly anything in that class. It doesn't help that my instructor was the dopey buzzard from Looney Tunes, either.

Differential Equations- was the hardest thing I've ever done. I mean in my life, not just academically. If the instructor hadn't gone over his exam questions during lecture and made his exam open-note, I wouldn't have passed.

In short- math sucks.

Highschool math is pointless and boring.

However I do tend to specialize in modular mathematics. Things such as functions by Leonhard Euler, the Chinese Remainder Theorem, along with countless other mathematical relationships. This is just an extension from my studies into modern cryptography, quantum functions, and modular-based factorization.
So ya, I could say I'm a math geek. I am probably going to get my ass kicked in College mathematics, but I surpass those in my high school.

I don't consider myself one, but I'm one of those who does extremely well in Math/Science and does horribly in English/Socail Studies.

I'm not a math geek but I got the highest score on the SAT math section than anyone in my school, probably one of the best in my city school district, above 89% of everyone in the country. I'm not a geek because I'm good at sports. :p Jk, I'm not a geek because you'd have to be above the 90% percentile. XD I could have had an A in calclus 1 (for some reason my college doesn't go up to A+) if I actually studied and did all my homework... I'm lazy as hell.

When I was a kid my entire family were geniuses (I'm talking 97 percentile on the SATs) I had a lot to live up to. I enjoy doing math though.

So yeah, I guess I'm a math geek.

I'm retarded at math. Give me philosophy, English, communications studies, I'll ace it. Make me do any kind of abstract equation, it's all Ferengi to me. I can do statistics and probability fairly comfortably, but trigonometry is my personal hell.
