For those of you who don't know Spotify is a free music site like pandora or last.fm, but it is so much better than those sites. Instead of merely just picking an artist then having the station somehow vere so far off from what you actually wanted you can actually pick an artist and listen to just that artist. They also have a radio feature where you can pick from a bunch of genres and it will play artists from the genres that you chose.

I find it to be much better than pandora or last.fm because I can actually type in U2 and listen to just U2 without it somehow squeezing Eminem or Nickleback in there.

So my fellow escapists how many of you use Spotify?

I can't be the only person who just has a buttload of music and puts it on shuffle when I want to listen.

Heard of it, never used it. Same goes with Pandora.

I'm using it right now actually. It's quite good, and I'm probably going to get a premium subscription soon.

I had the client for a while until they imposed a restriction on the amount of music you can listen to as a free user.
Is that still there or not?

You're not the only one lol, I do it but it just turns into a Feeder playlist six Feeder albums so every two songs a feeder song pops up.

It's what I tend to do nowadays, ever since I started using iTunes. So easy to buy songs, though sometimes I need to buy a physical copy of an album if they don't have it.

Tried out Spotify once though, to find new songs. Was pretty helpful, but I simply stopped using it after that.

I've only used Spotify the one time, and it wasn't really to my taste. I'm generally happier just Shuffling through my music collection. A bunch of people I know switched to it as well when it got linked with Facebook, but I can't say that tempted me back to using it.

As far as I know they got rid of that and if you are a free user you just have to deal with like 30 seconds of ads for like 30-45 minutes of listening.

Spotify has gone downhill the last few years. Commercials, removal of music, 5 time listening limit... The version that costs money removes 2 of these issues, but the catalog isn't perfect.

No no no, that is the service I was used too. I could run Spotify all day every day and I got a commercial after a few songs.

These are the kind of limits that I saw implemented, does the service still stick to it's five times listening limit?
I'm tempted to finally shell out for a premium account as Grooveshark just isn't the same as Spotify.

Nope, while it may be a free service, I will not tolerate adverts that cut into my listening to music, adverts that pause themselves should you try to mute, no less.

Is the 5 time listening limit like you can only listen to a song 5 times and then you can't anymore ?

People keep telling to try this out, but I still keep going with my current method. Listen to Pandora, find new artists, listen to all their stuff and then pick out what I like, put music on portable music player, listen to that most of the time.

Yes, after 5 times, the song is locked until you get premium. I thought this where 5 times/month at first, bit it's for all time.
