ive had my ps3 for about 3 years and have had no problems whatsoever. its refurbished though so i cant say what kind of experiences the previous owner had
One of each, and the 360's still going strong.
The PS3's on the fritz, the screen cuts out for a few seconds every now and again. It sorted itself out for now, but I'm not letting my guard down...
It has an extra year over the 360 though.
nearly had to replace my 360 about three times, but its always made it through the little hiccups that have occured.
i've had that little trooper since around the time they first came out
Well technically I have replaced 2 360s. My first one the disc reader started going so I traded it in for a second refurb unit. It lasted long enough to let me do the license transfer and screw me over for a year before it RROD. So I took it back and got an arcade.
I only had to replace my first PS3. It was because I had the discontinued 40gig (before they stopped making it). It died because of the leaser error that they stopped making them for. I'm not mad, because they admitted it was a problem on their end, and stopped making the shitty ones that are made to break. Never had to buy a replacement since. Problem solved.
I'm on my third 360 my first one was really old when I got it and it had a visual issue, my second one wouldn't read disks, my third one works perfectly (knock on wood)
Never replaced my PS3. I don't see a point in owning a 360 because there is only one game (Dead Rising) on there I would get that isn't on PS3 or PC. And anyway, Dead Rising 2 is on PC and they have a version of the original for Wii.
I've had to replace one Xbox - my first one RRoD'd just over a year after I bought it, and the replacement is still going strong more than a year after it was sent to me.
I"m on my second 36, but I sent in my first to get it fixed[RRoD], and now I have on and another one just in case the one I'm using now decides to crap out on me.
I've been trough 2 360s (disc read and an RROD) and I'm still on my 60gb fat PS3. Funny side note: 1 mate has been through 2 360s and is still on his launch fat PS3 60gb. Another one has been trough one 360 but replaced the replacement repeatedly with newer versions (it's probably why he has only suffered 1 RROD) He is still on his original fat PS3 though. We bought all our consoles together on the same days 'tis why it's funny.) So if you want a somewhat functional console, get an old fat PS3. If you are smart you throw your consoles away altogether and get a proper PC. Get into the mod-scene and be loud and proud. Also you should have at least 1 Linux distro.
The failure rates of consoles are so MASSIVE I'll keep holding the PC banner high and be loud about it (so are 1 of those mates mentioned). I'm not joking when I'm telling you I've got a fully functional 12 year old PC still running here daily. No fucking console will beat that... ever.
I should mention though that all 3 of us kept the 360s horizontal on the floor... might have something to do with it.
