I got 2 playthroughs with both Clementine and Marvin.

I have one bad ass Vanguard mofo who I've level capped in both previous games. So he's 60 and 30 respectively.

1. One single Shepard.

Did 3 runs through 1 as a Soldier, and 2 through 2 (including an Insanity Run) as an Infiltrator.

Mine is the prettiest :D
Renegade adept, modded heavily. She can use every weapon (but the heavy weapon has been removed- it looks better without it) and has disgusting hair from fighting in a helmet.

I think 4, maybe 5. One for relationship with Tali, one for Ashley, one for Garrus, one for Liara.

I have about eight, I think. All femShep. My "canon" one is a paragon adept who dated Liara, and remained faithful to her throughout ME2 to be reunited at the end of Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Unlike most RPGs I only have one version of Shepard, a female (mostly) paragon. As you have broadly the same character each playthrough (you may be different, but still Shepard) I just didn't feel like changing that with another playthrough. Something like Dragon Age: Origins, or Baldur's Gate was a different matter for me as each new character felt completely different. I think being able to change race makes a big difference to me. For the same reason I probably wouldn't replay Skyrim or the later Fallout games either.

Having lost my saves, I do need to replay both Mass Effects now but I will attempt to make as many choices that I did previously. The major exception to this rule for me is KOTOR (and 2). I have about 11 playthroughs of the first and 7/8 of the second. I am also about to stop playing TOR and replay KOTOR again instead.

reading through some of these makes me think I should make another shepard.

ME1: I have 3 Shepards (1 male, 2 female). I only beat the game with the females and only one is currently on my hard drive anymore.

ME2: I have the one I imported from ME1 and 4 I started but all kinda felt the same as my first playthrough, so I deleted them.

ME3: Hopefully, All my old choices wont come to bite me in the ass.

Choices:
Shiala Alive on Feros
Saved Rachni
Saved Ashley
Liara Romance
Council Dead
Anderson Councilor
All Loyal Crew - All Crew survived
Stayed loyal to Liara
Blew up Collector base
Kept Genophage research
Stopped Overlord
I cant remember the rest

4 Sheps

John Shep, "canon" shep. Solider class. Paragon who loves the citadel and council. LI - Liara then Tali

Jade Shep, "badass" shep. Adept class. Renegade who shoots first and doesn't ask questions. LI - Garrus

Lilith Shep, "pure" shep. Infiltrator class. Pure paragon, everyone survives and not a single renegade point. LI - Kaiden then Thane

Cain Shep, "useless" shep. Engineer class. Worst playthrough possible, everyone that can dies except shep and two others (Kasumi and Zaeed as they are the least likely to feature in me3). LI - none

ME3 will be played in that order as well.

I've had like a dozen Shepards, but the ones that stuck were:

Paragon: Ryan, male Soldier, Spacer/Sole survivor (the first one I've ever made); Nevan, female Vanguard, Colonist/War hero; Sophia, female Adept, Spacer/War hero.

Renegade: Jane, female Soldier, Earthborn/Ruthless; John, male Infiltrator, Spacer/Sole survivor.

Every one of them blew the crap out of the Collector base (except John). I added some outside role-playing to my characters too (incoming wall of text, feel free to skip it):

Ryan is a the typical cool-headed hero and a strong believer of intergalactic relations. His ideals made him clash with Ashley at first, but in the long run they solved their differences and eventually romance bloomed between them. This was not to last, however, as when the time came to evacuate the cloning facility on Virmire he had to make a choice and Ashley defiantly refused to be rescued insisting that Kaidan was a higher ranking officer. The thresher maw ambush left him with an unbreakable will and the subsequent revelation that Cerberus was responsible has left him with no trust or sympathy towards the group.

Jane made her way through the galaxy shooting faces and taking names without giving a second glance, but managed to do some good along the way like saving the colony of Zhu's Hope. Having to leave Kaidan behind only served to make her more cynical, but ever since she died and was subsequently brought back to life she began to really appreciate those close to her, her former squad-mates and crew whom she considers friends. Every other person has to earn that, though, and she reserves the right to be a ***** with them. Never trusted Cerberus, but was happy to take their credits.

Nevan is almost always a force of irredeemable good, but because of her background she does not keep her cool when confronted with pirates and slavers. She also blames herself every time she couldn't save an innocent or fellow soldier; this was aggravated by her inability to evacuate Ashley from Virmire. After the murder of Admiral Kahoku she has never wanted anything to do with Cerberus and despised every second she had to work with them. Following a rather awkward reunion she helped Liara in taking down the Shadow Broker, and managed to rekindle their relationship afterwards.

As for John, there's no other way to say it: he's a prick. Leaving Ashley behind was no big deal for him; as he told her as soon as she boarded the Normandy "Soldiers die". The only reason he chose to save the Council during Sovereign's assault was to secure their favor, but after seeing this made no difference in their attitude towards him and the Reaper menace he told them to go screw their respective selves, refused to be reinstated as a Specter (technically he's not even alive) and joined Cerberus completely. From there on he followed the path that brought the most benefit for himself going so far as to hand the Collector base to the Illusive Man.

At last we have Sophia, a battle hardened biotic master. Also a thoroughly good character her strict military upbringing made it so she didn't hesitate to make tough decisions or dwell for too long on the consequences, all this with minimal emotional input. She eventually softened up because of the way Garrus looked up to her and empathized with Kaidan's stories about his biotic training from hell. He was the one that stayed behind to ensure the bomb detonated on Virmire, and this finally woke Sophia up from her emotional detachment. Once inside the Citadel she gave the order to save the Council, putting the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the few, just like Kaidan did. Her feelings towards Cerberus had always been negative, but she was willing to work with them if it meant that no more innocents would die.

I have around 3-4 Shep's,only actually the 4th didn't play the first game with.

The first 2 are male Shep's(one full Paragon and one full Renegade, both soldiers) and a female Shep Renegade Vanguard.

PS: The Paragon male one is my main.

I have one MaleShep who is mostly renegade, but since i maxed the meter out early in ME 2, I picked the choices I wanted to take, so I'm mostly a bastard but not entirely and I got the "best" ending in ME 2 (and 1?). And then there's another one I made and played through with a friend. And let's just say....He fucked up royally and got everyone killed except himself, Joker, Tali and....Miranda I think (unfortunately). I will play ME 3 first with my bastard with a heart of gold (I might think of him like Bourbon) and then, because I must, i will play with the screw up and see what happens =) And I digressed a little, so. I have two Shepards that have gotten beyond the second mission.

I have one Shepard. All the Universe needs is one Shepard, plus going through the story only once makes my decision more meaningful to me.
