16,839 songs (I'm looking at iTunes right now) and only about 1/60 of those are legally bought or burned from a CD

Not a clue, my music folder is 13.6 GB, so about that much worth I guess.
My 600 is roughly 3 GBs.
Ok, so call it ~1800 songs then, although some (read most) are long and/or high quality, so it would probably be less than that.

Check the bitrate. 3GBs could be a lot of songs at 96kbp/s or very few at +1400kbp/s. It really depends on the file compression.

iTunes tells me I have 3096 songs, although I haven't ripped and imported my entire collection yet. Not to mention a good portion isn't compressed to a format that iTunes accepts. Most of my music uses FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Compression) which takes up tonnes of harddrive space. The quality is definitely worth it though. I prefer the compression to be at least 320kbp/s at the lowest. 192kbp/s just doesn't cut it.

Legally bought... Well, maybe 4 CDs of mine are legally bought. Wait, no I just remembered a 5th CD! Yeap, 5 CDs so that makes... (5 x 12) about 60 legal songs. xD

I have dled over 11 GB of music. I just put all of my music into Winamp and it says I have 2583 songs and duration of them all is +165 hours.
