Personally I hope there's like 20 possible endings or something so I'll never get the same one twice.
That'd be... great, if they don't go for a *one-two good endings and the rest are essentially failures*, like the endings of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

I don't know how your game's going to end, but here's mine:

Tenel Ka Sheperd unites the galaxy, stomps the Reapers, then she and Liara have "lots of little blue children running around." I prefer happy endings over tragic ones any day of the week.

Perhaps they'll throw a few immediate action decisions at us, as seen in Mass Effect 2 (Spoiler Alert), when the crew are kidnapped by the Collectors and Shep is to decide whether to continue recruiting squad members (at the expense of the snatched crew members lives over time).

Perhaps instead of building squad members you'll be building support of the alien races, all the while the citizens of earth are perishing. So long as they make it really dark, like humans getting liquified into shrieking orange goo and stuff.

Easy:

Shephard will find the space-macguffin. The space-macguffin will kill the Reapers.

The End.

Though that was entirely avoidable, by not doing the Reaper IFF mission before all other things were done, the first time I played through it I (spoilers) didn't know you'd lose your crew if you didn't go after them almost immediately, and on my later playthroughs I didn't do the Reaper IFF mission before basically completing the rest of the game, and then I did Legion's loyalty mission right after it(thankfully you can do that without getting your crew liquidated).
One sad thing about that is the general lack of characterisation of your crew, so you wont really care either way. Yeah, I know they occasionally talk about something when you go near them, but it's mostly just not enough and/or of too little importance to care about... that's something they could really improve in ME3.

Snape kills Shepard.
Totally didn't steal that from anybody >.>
Preferably by shooting him off a tower or something.

Did you just say...
Actually, if Bioware really want to piss off the entire Internet they should do this...

Helpless Earth Defender [watching as the Normandy rushes towards the Reaper fleet]: Shepard, do you mind telling me what you're doing on that ship?

Shepard: Finishing this fight.

TO BE CONCLUDED IN MASS EFFECT 4. Coming in 2015!
Oh Halo, how bad and corny that line was.

It was hilarious bad. I actually need to watch that video of Chief in the ship now.

That was fun.

OT: Yeah, I dunno.

I'd say it won't end particularly well for the Reapers. I'm kinda hoping for every living thing ever to get wiped out, that way nothing can ever come of it. No spin-offs, nothing.

Yess! Hopefully there will be a nice characterized crew for us to talk to on the third. On my first playthrough I lost 1 crewman because I had to do Samara's loyalty mission, but I don't even know who it was because they weren't a greatly evolved upon character.

Though I quite like Ken and Gabby, I hope they return in Mass Effect 3.

It'll end with a choice of either sacrificing humanity to protect the Citadel and council races, or sacrificing everyone else to save humanity and Earth.

It saddens me that I found no better video of SG-1 blowing up a sun.
You all remember the star dieing too fast in Tali's recruitment mission, right?
As it runs out, that was just the test drive of a weapon developed by the Reapers/Protheans/Geth/Quarians/Someone else. Through a series of high risk missions, Shepard will acquire this technology and perfect it with the help of his allies.
Then Shepard will unite all races of the galaxy to form one giant fleet to attract the attention of the whole Reaper fleet. The races of the galaxy will make one last stand, taking on the reapers close to a star which is about to be turned into a supernova by the aforementioned technology/mass-effect-voodoo.
The final choice will be to stay, sacrifice yourself and make sure all of the Reapers are destroyed, or jump to safety with the rest of the fleet, victorious, but not 100% certain that you really got all the Reapers.

Like B5 and the shadows, Shep hears of some old race that was about/created the reapers then goes through another unplotable mass relay yo find them, the race say they want no part of it shep gives a big speach then leaves to stand alongside the other council races, then as the reapers are whooping ass out of no where the old/creators appear make up with the reapers and they all go to leave, Shep gets to make the big "oh thats fine" let them leave or "fuck that" and attack them from behind descision. He then lets the (insert race here) blow the crap outof the tourian councilors homeworld with mass drivers, just for lulz, credits

There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house.

[sub]*or himself, if you absolutely insist...[/sub]
And then Cerberus Resses her again....

I think many explosions and mass genocide will be a part of it. All of it being pwettiful.

I'm actually more interested in how it will begin. Shepherd ends the game quite powered up, similar to the first one. To get around this RPG direct sequel issue, Bioware had him killed off and resurrected. That won't work again, so how will the stop him being overpowered with a big arsenal from the beginning? Unless they are just going to strip all of the pretence at still having an RPG levelling system and make it a straight up third person shooter.

Here's how it will end:

*after final battle

Shepard: "You shall never prevail. Human spirit is too strong, it shall not be broken. Yadda yadda yadda typical hero stuff"

Harbinger: "Fuck this. Our true motivation was to transport all humans to a paradise land of world peace and eternal life and infinite blowjobs from Miranda. But you have ruined everything with your lack of submission. We shall leave now never to return. Enjoy the continuation of your crappy little existence as you know it."

Shepard: "Fuck"

Not to sound cynical, but pretty much this. In fact, I'd wager a small amount of money that it would be this.

I might wager a little less on it being a gigantic EMP.

And then I'll take the money I'd just won and buy some popcorn while I cruise the 'net, reading all the hate threads.

In all seriousness, no matter how Bioware ends it I'm going to predict that there will be tons upon tons of hate threads. Even if it were the best game ever made (which I seriously doubt it will be), a huge group of people somewhere will think it just plain isn't good enough.
I agree, to an extent. The ending of Mass Effect 3 is fairly... obvious. I'm sure there will be a "everyone dies" ending like in Mass Effect 2, but all the same, they're going to have to pull some major shit to make anything really surprising.

Ten bucks say that one potential way to end it is to use the Quarian's home world's sun. It does seem close to going supernova, after all.

That's why I have way more faith in the WOW factor of Dragon Age. We have no clue what is going to happen next, but we can tell that it's big. That's way better to build hype.

I am looking forward to Mass Effect 3. But I'm definitely more excited for whatever Dragon Age has in store.

Or they'll just say "fuck it" like with every other RPG with a direct sequel and the same main character.

... Which... wouldn't exactly be better. But it'd be easier... I guess.

... eh...

There would, I find the ending cliche nd predictable. Im not the only one either.
Well, you do have a big eye for an avatar, so figures... I guess.

The more I think about the more it makes sense to me that they should kill Shepard. If they do then they give themselves a lot more freedom to do what they want with the Mass Effect universe after the trilogy. If Shepard survives then it's Halo all over again - with the money men pushing the idea that it's not a 'proper' Halo game unless the Master Chief is the lead.

Bioware have a very successful sci-fi IP on their hands - one that they don't have to pay licencing rights to LucasArts to use. They'd be crazy to let that go, but if Shepard lives they'll have to deal with a fanbase that will, as fans do, hang onto their ME3 save game files in anticipation of Shepard's return.

Although if you're cynical, you might say that that's exactly why they wouldn't kill off Shepard. Money in the bank, as it were.
