How much do you care about your Gamertag?

I've had people insult my gamertag before. It's nothing new. "DeltaSpartan5" isn't the most creative tag on Xbox Live, but I don't really care. Not until people start insinuating that my gamertag makes me bad at a game.

I remember a 2v2 game of Gears of War where the two guys on the other team started making fun of my tag. They didn't call it stupid. They told me "You suck!" and "Look at his tag, dude! You should go back to Halo, fag!" Next thing they know, I'm giving them an overdose of chainsaw-to-the-back. I think I went a little berserk during that match.

So what's your breaking point? At what point do the insults start to sink in?

While I've never had anyone insult my gamertag, I'm pretty damn proud of it. It used to be a nickname given to my dad by some of his students and then when I got to high school they started calling me by that name. So I'd be pretty pissed if someone starting dissing it. I'm also just proud of it because its stuck with me so long, I use it almost everywhere for that kind of thing (see my forum name) and it's never taken, so I didn't have to use numbers or something to fill it out.

I have no breaking point.

I couldn't give a rat's ass. I mean, look at it. It should be in my profile somewhere, but there it is. I did get a few jokes from the one I had before, but they were more like "You serious, man?" and "How are you that?" rather than malicious.

I usually don't get much from mine, on LotRO I sometimes get asked if I have a Captain called Ginyu (due to Jace being relatively common, I had to go with the less common Jeice variation) and on LoL I go by BladeKnightofEa, though most people think EA and don't get the Silmarillion reference.

I just let the Xbox name generator thing come up with my name. People apparently find the name GutsyUnicycle really funny/weird/cool, and that's fine with me.

I started using Vilcus a few years back. It became my game name, and I use it for basically everything. Not much to make fun of though, it's just a normalish name.

If someone did start insulting it I wouldn't care, seeing as I like it.

I genuinely don't give a fuck what people think of my nom de ecran.
I'm just that badass.
But, in all honesty, to me its just a name - less than a name, actually...a kind of semi-ethereal token identity. I can't even get mildly annoyed over something like that.

No one has ever really insulted mine, although it kind of bugs me when they pronounce it Tsunami. (Yes, I use the same username for almost everything)
Even if they did insult it though, I don't think I would care much, it is just a mask used for animosities sake, what do I care if they don't like it.

You mean people actually read those things?

Huh.

Y'know, that's quite a feat, considering most of them are something along the lines of "dARkPEdokiLlurrAK47".

No one really insults my gamertag (also my name here). They mostly just read it wrong. They say "runner" instead of "ruiner." So beyond the insult to literate people it doesn't go much beyond that. I do make fun of some gamertags if they are so generic they're insulting to people with more than one firing synapse though. OP gamertag is solid. Its nothing crazy but nothing really new, but its not worth insulting or saying you're bad at the game, unless you are bad at the game.

i love my gamertag "Streakydude".

Well i might change the dude part into something else later but i had this exact gamertag name since xbox live first came on and had it ever since. It's simple, I actually am pretty streaky in some games XD, and i just love to just look at the name. Can't really explain why.

I really couldn't care less about my gamertag. If somebody started insulting me based of something trivial like my online name, Win/Loss ratio, what rank I was, or any number of other things, I would just tell them to get a life. They would need one.

I tend to find it ironic how people like us, the people who support gaming and feel that it is more than just something little kids and immature teens play in their spare time, who don't care about a petty win/loss ratio, or someones online name, but more about the fun we have when playing the game, are, or at least used to be, told by the people who are little kids or immature teens, who care less about the fun they have, and more about the superficial stats heralded on their gamertag, and how much they can insult another players online name, that we need to 'get a life' when, during the rest of our lives, we are more likely to talk about things included in our other hobbies, world issues, and any number of other subjects, and they spend much of their time talking about each others K/D ratio, and why they have such a bad/good one, and how they just made a new account so they can get a better one, and what they called that new account and how each others names suck. (these are seriously a fair bit of what the people who used to tell me to get a life say in their everyday conversation).

But hey, since when did their opinion matter to us anyway?

Generally when people insult my PSN name it's more funny than anything else, though I am somewhat annoyed that everyone pronounces it Guy Mc-Peer-son, even though it's Guy Mc-Per-son.
