I used to visit /mu/ and /tg/ quite regularly (I graduated from /b/ years ago :p), but last Christmas I got permab& so it's a good excuse not to go there anymore.
Banned? For real? I thought it's pretty hard to get banned on 4chan.
It depends on what board you're on. /b/ has no rules so it's hard to get banned there, /tg/ has no mods so the only time you can get banned is when a mod from another board happens to visit. Some boards auto-ban you for saying certain things (like saying "xbot" on /v/), and other boards are just patrolled by mods more often. I got banned several times in a row on several different boards, mostly for really lame things. The last time I got banned for posting NSFW holiday greetings on a SFW board and it got made permanent, which I took as a sign that I'd wasted enough time on that site. :p

well there are boards for many different things
but the board everyone is usually talking about is /b/
it's basically a discussion board/image board for racism, porn, and horribly offensive humor

Technically, /b/ is an imageboard for everything you can think of (except straight-up illegal stuff like child pornography). It's just that it's visited mostly by 14-year olds who believe "there are no rules" means "I can misbehave all I want". In the past, /b/ has been responsible for a good amount of funny shit, but it's produced a vast amount of regular shit as well. As time went on, the genuinely funny stuff kinda got covered in the layers of shit everyone kept piling on. I don't know what the state of /b/ is nowadays, but when I left 4chan it had become a cesspit of people who noone thought funny except themselves.

Most of the more specific boards are fairly decent though. Often pointlessly offensive and always politically incorrect, but at least shit occasionally gets done there.

The only decent things left on /b/ are the meme threads such as Advice Dog, Success Baby and so on. There are lots of variations of those now which have the potential to have one or two real gems in every thread that make you laugh for ages afterwards. Other than that, it's just the usual "I'm 12 and find this funny because mummy said I shouldn't say it out loud."

Anon has gone from being a legion mostly consisting of people who were like the mediators of the internet (you wouldn't want to piss them off as they'd come after your PC, but show them a really fun reason to attack a bad site for a good cause and they would) to being a bunch of faeces flinging apes who think that being Anon makes them cool without actually doing anything an Anon used to do.

OT: I used to go on there a lot, but I haven't risked it on the Uni internet as "inappropriate" material can get you banned from the internet, and 4chan is pretty much made entirely of that. At home I still visit, but it's rarely that fun anymore.

I browse around 4chan (and the 4chan archive) occasionally, i don't post or anything, just lurk and see what i can find. It's true that it's a cess pit of human hatred, and i suppose in that respect that's what can make it quite interesting. Browsing 4chan, and in perticular /b/, makes me feel like a psychologist in a lunatic asylum, or a spectator at some sort of freak show. I'm driven by a morbid curosity to see the darker side of human nature.

I never do, except to follow some link from some other site that's about some issue related to that site, or something there. I think I've been there once or twice.

Got some 4chan threads linked to me some time ago, but other than that I never visit it. I do have to admit, sometimes there are some real gems on 4chan. For example:
or
or
They would almost make visiting 4chan worthwhile, be it not that those gems are covered in miles upon miles of utter doggy doo-doo. But still, those are some awesome examples.

I've never been there, which is surprising considering how many jokes I've heard about it. Usually curiosity gets the better of me, but what I've heard of it managed to kill the curiosity.

People don't hate 4chan. It's just /b/ they're afraid of.

EDIT:
I lol'd at the Leonidas V. Xerxes MTG match.

4chan? What is this? Some kind of crappy translator like Babelfish?

Nah, I'm just kidding. :p

Nope, I have never been to 4chan. That doesn't mean I don't know about its content and its users. After all, my 3 best friends visit it. Two for laughs. One for hentai (oh yes, it's alternative btw) But, honestly it's a bit too much for me.

I visit it sometimes. /b/ is nothing but cam whores now which is a shame, it used to be an incredibly amusing place. /v/ and /i/ is still good though, with the trolls being obvious and the penises being poorly drawn.

I have never gone on, I have heard its a super nerds haven for porn and other things. In fact if someone mentions they visit 4chan they might have difficulty applying for my clan.

What's 4chan? I heard it a while back, but never mind, the guy behind me just answered me.
God, sucks to have people eavesdropping on what you write on the internet.
