How Much do you Trust Wikipedia?

Ive been thinking a lot lately about how people often say you cant trust wikipedia because anyone can write on it, personaly, thats exactly why I DO trust it! As an advert would probably say "How can two billion squillion people be wrong?!" so what do you think? How much do you trust wikipedia?

I don't trust the Internet in general.

I trust it quite a lot. If there are mistakes, they tend to get fixed quite quickly, and are usually very obvious.

Loads, it's a pretty failsafe system, all the malicious changes are removed really quickly.

Yeah it's great for more basic information, if I really cared for a subject or whatever I was researching i'd be checking multiple sources anyway. but for basic info I find it quite hard to beat.

I know people that literally think it's all 100% lies >.<

I trust it a lot. If there's a mistake or some troll edited it then it's usually fixed really quickly.

Loads, its a huge system with loads of people to moderate it.

But the problem comes when I wouldn't know if what I was reading was a good lie or not....

I've seen fewer mistakes on Wikipedia than in my college textbooks. I'd say it's better than any other online database open to the public.

Everything I've ever found on wikipedia has been accurate, confirmed by other sources. Then again, I only ever use Wikipedia as a starting point for whatever essay I have to do for university, and the only people who care about, say, the structure and function of DNA Helicase are the experts.

I trust it with my life (well i Trusted it to get all my info for school papers, so kinda my life-ish). Anything important you ever want to know is always correct there. the things were problems start emerging are on rarely visited pages, like this one i found the other day about a south african designed assault rifle. But yea with that thing a few years ago were you actually have to provide EVIDENCE (what a novel concept) for your edits, its pretty much all good now.

Wikipedia has been proven to be pretty reliable. I remember one essay question from when I took the PSATs that talked about Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Britannica. The essay claimed that Wikipedia was as accurate (If not more) as Encyclopedia Britannica. I don't know how true that essay was, but it fueled my faith in it.

Yeah I have no reason not to trust it. As long as anything 'edgy' is cited then its fine.
