I'm currently in my senior year of high school, already applied to a community college, and the only time I've really found a balance when it comes to gaming and work was my last 3 years of high school. This year even with a job I have HOURS to fit plenty of time for games. That might change once I go to college but until then the senior life is good.

Just for a bit of backstory, I'm currently in my Junior year of high school.

I do have quite a bit more homework recently than in past years, so that has an impact. Plus, I have been making an effort to be a bit more social.

In the end, whereas I used to play video games for upwards of five hours a day, I'd be lucky now to squeeze in two hours.

Pretty much all my time I should spend socializing with friends is taken up by gaming if i'm not studying or working. Some time for the girlfriend as well but damn is it a hassle!
Pretty much this. Except for the girlfriend thing.

At school, yeah - if I have the time. If I'm not doing anything else, why should I not be enjoying myself?

At work... no. The main difference being I'm being paid to do something, rather than paying to do something. Even if there is nothing going on at that point, I am being paid to follow work's rules, and so I will.

Work never used to affect my gaming. My child however does. Usually way too tired to play much by the end of the day and I can no longer spend half the night playing as I simply must get up first thing in the morning.

I still play when I can.

As a student, my parents have restricted me the access to a console on Monday-Thursday, so I only ever game on a weekend (Special exceptions include vacations and larger game releases). Other than that I have no limits.

I spend several hours per week gaming although I forced myself to give up WoW and other MMORPGs because they eat up too much time. It's for that reason I only play games I can save and quit now like Borderlands 2. If WoW like games offered some kind of save state that would be better. (at least inside instances and pve stuff).

I'm at college 3 days a week and hardly ever get that much coursework to do at home. So it could be much, much worse for me. Heheheheh.

If I didn't work I would have an extra 30 - 40 hours a week to play my games but of course, I would be unable to add games to my collection. I've given up hope on beating all of my games this decade and I've given up hope on 100%-ing them in my lifetime (Hell, 100%ing the GTA series would be an achievement worth mentioning in ones resume). That being said though, I think I game a lot more now than I did when I was a younger teen or, a child. I know I'll be forced to cut back sooner or later either when I get a better job or, a higher position in my current one (or when someone forces me back to school or, when I finally go completely neurotic and start work on my multi-novel Saga)

This week was absolutely hell for assignments. I haven't gamed since the weekend and am in desperate need of Borderlands 2.

Greatly. When I'm not working I'm in school and when I'm not in school I'm working. I can no longer really "hardcore game" or get absorbed into gameplay. I can easily post often in threads and since college I've gotten into Visual Novels even more than before. No real gameplay to get absorbed into and I can easily pick up a story from where I left off. Also they're cheap.

But yeah, school and work have more or less demolished my gaming :(

hello again my fellow escapist's, today am at my colleges computer lab and what am looking at is about 10 or so people playing league of legends and I thought to myself not 2 mins ago.....wow, this group of fine people are using school computers to play there game and taking up an entire table of computers from others and I have mixed feelings,( due to the fact that I too am a gamer and the fact that am typing this out on a school computer really gives me no right to accuse anyone off wasting time in school ) but to my main qusition.
how much do you dedicate too gaming? as in even at school or work do you find ways to satisfy your love of games or other hobbies ( for example thre are at least 5 people in this lab using the computers too anime but thats irrelevent.....) what are you thoughts.

(now if you'll excuse me time to use school computers to view some escapist videos)
There is a time and place for everything and when Im at work my computer is for working. Im a salary man myself so I have to get the job done right the first time or I loose pay. If I do an exceptional job I could get a raise. That said when I sit down at my work PC I concentrate on working, doing things correctly and effiecently till the job is done. So for me, gaming has no place at work and never can have a place

That said for school its a bit different IMO. There are some times where you'll have nothing to do and gaming is ok. However if there are students that need to do legitimate work on a PC but the PCs have games going on it then I think the decision is clear. The gamers need to leave so the student can finish his work. If all the work is done then I dont see a problem with them gaming on those PCs

Shouldn't this question be the other way around?

Oh and that question serves as an appropriate answer as well. How fortunate

The school I go to is pretty much based around homework (or so I believe) so homework usually takes precedence over vidya, which means that for five days a week it's wake up, go to school, do homework, go to bed, etc. When the weekend rolls around, hehe... that's a different story entirely.

Unfortunately, because I'm both in school, and work, I don't have much time for games... Even when I come home from all those, then there's homework then I go to bed early. ... It sucks.

Though, I do try to set aside time to get in some game time for those game series that I already love, like Borderlands 2, and Assassin's Creed 3, etc. I don't get a lot of time to try out new games, though.

I play on my nights off after I get done with any pressing course work. Hasn't made too much of a change. Just play a bit less.

Unfortunately, I often come home from school completely wiped out. Even if I don't have homework, I am usually so tired that don't really feel like playing games very often. I play a lot on the weekends, though.

I'm married, working minimum 50 hours a week (sometimes Saturday), but still set aside time for my wife, exercise and games. And other stuff in between. It's tough, and sometimes the old sleep requirements catch up with me and I just pass out early, but it's worth it. Actually family stuff is also a big component of it (wife has a big family and close relations), so I end up at a lot of birthdays, weddings, funerals etc. That's without even kids of my own, I reckon if and when I have a kid(s), priorities will change wildly.

But that's all it is, really. You can't overlook your priorities, especially basics like cleaning your house, eating properly, getting exercise, socializing (however you do it), working and SLEEP.

I work about 35 hours a week, I am a full time student, and I am learning to fly as part of my education. Needless to say, I have little time to game anymore. Hell, I am hardly able to log in here as often as I would like.

Besides... Flying in real life is FAR more fun than playing a PC game. Then again, it's a LOT cheaper to play games.

As a person who has never had a job, work does not affect my gaming.

However, as a college student, my game time is sometimes affected by certain subjects, depending on the difficulty.
