How much emphasis do you put on getting trophies/achievements?

Depends on how hard they are. To this date the only game I've done 100% is Assassin's Creed II. I'm sure I could do Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood if not for the online part.

I only use them as an excuse to play more of some of the games I really like.

Otherwise, I don't really care.

I think achievements are dumb, but trophies are great. I strive for trophies but utterly ignore achievements. The main reason for this is: Platinum's. I love Platinum's.
only problem with platinum's is that you have to do all of the incredibly rediculous tasks to get them. For example, i'm 3 trophies away in Batman AA from getting the platinum, but i'm just not THAT good at freeflow
Yea, I kinda ignored Batman's platinum because. . . them challenge rooms, man. Not my idea of a fun time.

But the Sly Cooper games, God of War games and Uncharted games are easy Platinum's.

How much? Not much. A few times, like with Portal 2, but only because Portal is funny and that I would enjoy whatever happened.

Usually when I finish a game I go back to get some achievements, but if there overly difficult ones or really time consuming i'll just move on to something else. Don't really like multiplayer achievements, which can be unfair for people who don't have access to the internet.

They are a good way to extend the life of a good game too.

I only really get into trophy hunting when i stop playing and realize I have 60% of the trophy's already i.e. Dead Rising 2, Dragon Age 2, and Both of the inFamouses.

It depends on how much I enjoyed the game itself. If I liked it, then Trophies are more or less an excuse for me to keep playing. If I didn't like the game, then I don't bother with them.

It really depends on the game I guess.

Some games actually reward you with items upon completing an achievement or gaining a trophy, for those, I would probably go out of my way to get them.

More then likely, I wouldn't get achievements just for the sake of getting them.

When I get one by accident, I get a little excited. Really hard ones, I sometimes like to get if I'm bored and just want something challenging. I usually don't even bother going for all achievements. The only one I have completed 100% is "Portal: Still Alive" from the XBLA and that was only 12 achievements.

I have a friend who has every achievement on most games. Most recently, he got all the ones on Halo: Reach.

I'll admit that when I buy a new game, I like to scroll through the achievements and see which ones I can get on one playthough. Anything too out of the way (scanning everything in Metroid Prime (not an achievement, technically, but in the same vein)) I don't do.

I'll playthrough a game ignoring the Achievments/Trophies at first and If it's a good enough game I'll go through again and get them

Only if they're fun to get

I get as many as I can while still retaining my sanity. I never bother starting insane ones.

DMC4 on Dante Must Die I can do. Bloody Palace I can do. I need to get back to beating Hell and Hell difficulty and S ranking the others, then I'll have full Gamerscore.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is just time consuming and kinda annoying. I need to get back to finishing the weapon runs (I left the first two hanging near the end and never started the others). I need to start Master Ninja difficulty and find one more Crystal Skull (I have absolutely no idea where I lost it).

Started borrowing Prince of Persia 08 with the intent of getting full Gamerscore. I figured I'd settle for 900+ Light Seeds, probably give up on the last two speed runs, never bother with uncovering every single combo permutation, not speed-running the game, and not replaying for <100 deaths. I likely can get all the Light Seeds, speed runs, game speed run, and min-death run. It's just that I'm too distracted (see below)

Ah, Deathsmiles. At the beginning, it hands out Achievements like free candy. The real Achievements are sadistic to say the least. 1CC with each character I can't quite do yet. It took me half a year to get my first Touhou 1CC and I still can't do them consistently. Now that I'm sufficiently distracted because I play too much BlazBlue CS and Persona 4 (with Persona 3 FES and possibly Final Fantasy X-2 waiting in line), I highly doubt that I'll be good enough to do them. With that said, the "Get 100 Million/200 Million/300 Million points" Achievements are far out of the question, as is the True Final Boss one (which should be worth 500 points by itself, no joke).

Mass Effect 2: Full Gamerscore, DLC included. Getting Full Gamerscore for ME1 is just an exercise in masochism.
Bioshock: 5 points missing and I already sold the game. Little bro is regretting it dearly because those 5 points will bug him forever.

So how much of a completionist are you? Do you go for all achievements, simply could care less about them, or get what you can without too much trouble and then move on?
I normally could careless for them. I believe someone pointed out to me that all the annoying ones that you get for completing things like the intro sequence and the ending aren't just for you they are there incase you ever hook your console up to the internet the companies can see what you do and if you completed the game. So in that case most achievements are just market research. BUT, I have been getting tired and feel somewhat like my games resent me because the ratio of my points achieved out of the total amount possible keeps widening. So on games I really liked and ones I own I try to go back and get more.

I don't like them. Most of the time, to me at least, it comes off as the developer saying "this is how you SHOULD be playing". I just don't see the point.

Emphasis? Uh, between 0 and negative five billion. I just seem to get them randomly while fucking around or when I'm going through a story mode on a game. When I do get one while fucking around, I go "Oh, that's cool I guess" then I go back to mass murder or whatever.

I have a bad problem with what I like to call DCS (Debilitating Completionist Syndrome) So I make myself care as little as possible, largely because I don't have the luxury of sacrificing so much of my time to games. It doesn't always work though, and on several occasions I wouldn't stop playing something until I had all the achievements. Which leads to another problem of mine. Once I have completed a game to 100%, it is nearly impossible for me to play it anymore, even if I really love it.

I'm not a console gamer so I don't see them much and when I do I just play the game and if I achieve some that's cool but not really important.
