How much filth have you avoided?

I can't say there's much I've intentionally avoided. I've mostly avoided the Pain Olympics and similarly themed videos. Many species of insects still terrify me with their utterly alien anatomy. Otherwise I actively search for nightmare fuel and macabre.

It seems I've paid the price for my curiosity.

only gross thing i've seen that is stuck in my mind is when i was about 8 and on Neopets one moment, then the next all these gay porn sites and pictures kept popping up one after the other, which i tried for about a minute to exit them all, but they kept popping back up, so i freaked-out and turned the computer off at the wall.
although now i can watch anything on the internet and not get grossed out or anything, i don't know why. so i don't remember much gross stuff now.

Lets see... I Avoided Two girls and one cup, The Majority of anime, I Have not avoided "Blue Waffle" Funny story, I Had to learn about that for health due to a terrible project a few years back. And the health teacher told the group who were doing the project, Me and my friends that what our STD was could be related to blue waffle. And... We Googled it.... And the terrible thing came up. Lucky i'm a man so I could never get the thing that leads up to that.

I Have avoided 4chan up to date... So that's good too?

I always get blindsided by the damn stuff the moment it becomes the thing to link to people for the shock value.

In a rare reversal of roles, someone I know managed to get a classmate banned from the school library after they told him to go on meatspin. I think it was the screams of "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" that alerted the librarian.

Around that time I also saw the dreaded goatse, staring at me from its place on a wall in de_dust2. I avoided that way for the rest of the game.

I should've learned from the library never to click on links that sound even vaguely disgusting or strange. But time heals all wounds and, seven years later a friend links me the most disgusting thing I have ever had the misfortune to view. Blue waffle.

I've seen my share. The darkest corners of reddit, the middle parts of 4chan, accidentally hit a few gore sites. It's a dark, scary, traumatizing, wonderful, weird, magical, porn-filled place, the Internet is.

Yeah. I've spent WAY too long on the Internet to avoid the bad stuff. The best you can do is look at the good stuff, and hope it all balances out. It usually does.

Example: For every "Cupcakes", there's a touching "I saved this dog's life" story.
And don't go looking into "Cupcakes". Please. Especially if you're a brony.

I haven't actually seen any excessively gross porn (you know, grosser than it is on an intrinsic level). I don't know how you could, without actively seeking it out. Unless you have dickhead friends who link it to you. But I don't have dickhead friends. I don't have friends at all.

So, I was thinking. Scary concept I know but hey. In all my years on the internet (I'm 23 and have been using it for quite awhile) I have been pretty lucky at avoiding the truly horrifying stuff. I have not watched 2 girls 1 cup or anything similar. I've only been on 4chan once and didn't see anything mentally scarring. All that stuff has been avoided. So, and this is probably just putting a target on my back I suppose, but how lucky/good have you been at avoiding the filth of the internet?

I've seen some. I've seen Blue Waffle, some rule 34 and such. One thing that caught me by surprise was my friend on a laptop. Suddenly, he said "hey, watch this!", and turned the screen towards me. It was a video of a guy's thing being stepped on and blood spurting out the tip.

I've avoided...well, almost all of it I guess. Never been to a lot of sites that I hear people talk about here (4chan, tvtropes, encyclopedia dramatica, err...whatever else there is).

I really only visit a handful of sites:
-here, obviously
-The Onion (and The AV club part of it)
-Paste Magazine's website
-ESPN (for baseball scores/news)
-A couple Yankees blogs
-Destructoid
-Netflix
-Eurogamer
-Grooveshark
-Pandora

And I visit a couple more, but they are all related to music, baseball, or gaming. Other than that, I do not explore the internet. And I'm happy to keep it that way.
