I played through Episode 2 in it's entirety. Mostly to nab the last few achievements I had missed. Just...because. (also, it's easily my favorite game in the series)
I managed to save every building in the final strider battle. Also managed to kill a Combine soldier with his own grenade. (no idea how I missed that one before)
However, as I had said in another thread:
...I missed two other achievements.
First, I once again somehow missed two of the three hundred thirty three grubs. I
always miss those two.
And secondly, I failed to launch the gnome into space. Don't misunderstand, though. I carried that thing from start to finish. All through the antlion caverns, through the car sections, the chopper chases....all the way to the end. Placed him in the rocket, and went on my way. Happy in the thought, "Ha! Got it. Finally."
Little did I realize that, to actually GET the achievement, you not only have to place him in the rocket....you also have to close the door.
So, because I didn't do that one arbitrary thing, I missed out. Now, this wouldn't have been a big deal, if it weren't for the fact that I had accidentally used the save file closest to that point in the game to save my progress, at several points, during the strider battle. The only other save I had for that playthrough was for a point about mid-way through the antlion caves.
So....yeah.

I'd just started the level with the Antlions by the time it got too late to carry on.
I had to play my iTunes library in shuffle through Ravenholm, to make it tolerable. It was still scary, but much less so with John Lennon singing about how your bird can sing to George Harrison's awesome riffs.
It's funny, I've sometimes listened to creepier music upon subsequent playthroughs of Ravenholm in an attempt to make it more scary.
I don't know why. Maybe I'm a closet Phobophiliac. :/
