A lot of time. I beat the main game, all the DLC got to lv 28 and high levels on several other characters.

I only stopped modding and replaying FO3 when New Vegas came out. And I've been modding and replaying THAT ever since. -:)

Not that many. I'd say around 60, 70 hours, and that's already a huge commitment from me.

Raptr says 122 hours, but it's probably more including offline. Unlike the ones who loved Oblivion and got bored with Fallout, I couldn't get into the fantasy setting and got bored with Oblivion. It also lists me as playing New Vegas for 213 hours.

Finished the game, but it didn't interest me enough to want to get the dlc.

It's a good game, but I think it was the lack of detail and bland locations that caused me to not connect with the scenario. What's the point of searching the massive map to find a new location that's simply been copy/pasted from somewhere else?

i can count the number of hours i've spent on it on my two hands. Wasn't quite my sort of game i suppose. Don't get me wrong, i did enjoy it. Just I've never really thought "gosh, i do really fancy playing fallout" since i last stopped playing.

At least 1000 hours. And no, that isn't a typo.

I think a sum of over 1000 hours. I have too much free time and it was all worth it.
I know there is a lot to do, but I'm curious, how did you manage that?
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the game - across my three characters I've probably spent about 200 hours on it, unlocking all achievements and custom weapons etc, but I'm just wondering how you managed 1000 hours on it?
Many, many playthroughs, some of them almost entirely identical. On my final one, I maxed out every stat, then grabbed five weapons (Assault Rifle, Combat Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Jingwei's Shocksword, and the 10mm Pistol), packed five clips worth of ammo for each, and set out on foot to every marked location in the Capitol Wasteland.

Three plays through the game. First one was as a sniper, ran through the game once and had no DLC. Probably 15 hours total, since I just did the main story and not too many of the sidequests.

The second play was a melee stealth character, who I did a great deal of the sidequests on and never finished the main story. Maybe 20 hours.

The third play I had all DLC, rolled an unarmed stealth character, and did everything. Probably 80 or 90 hours.

Ultimately, the thing that got me to stop playing was all the bugs and glitches. And then, since hard drive space was at a premium on my PS3, I deleted all my Fallout 3 data since I had no desire to play it any more.

130 hours. Saw everything. Loved it all. Remember it all. Had enough. 1 Playthrough.

I never liked multiple playthroughs especially since I have read the whole Vault Wiki.

62 hours.

Odd since I have like end game gear in that short amount of time.
Anyways I didn't really bother getting all the unique items cause only a few are at all useful.
I think I've gotten most of the stuff done in the original campaign and thinking about starting up one of the DLCs soon.

About 100 hours with one character. I admit, I found wandering the Capital Wasteland more entertaining than I probably should have - maybe actually living in DC had something to do with it.

Although I wish there was more than 1 person in the entire game (and she's part of DLC to boot! D:) that could repair items to 100%. :/

Far too much.

I never bothered to care on my clocked times. I'd guess in the neighbourhood of 1000+ hours, though.
Good, evil, boy, girl, all DLCs, cranking specific skill setups (min-maxing) and/or stat setups, full-maxing; you name it.

A good chunk of my life is forever lost to nothing but memories and ~10MB save files.

And I'm perfectly O.K. with that.

Fuckloads. Easily 150 hours plus. Nearly had all the achievements, but then when I entered the room in The Steelyard that held the last 3 ingots, my game crashed midsave and corrupted my data, never to be read again. It was hardly the first time the game screwed up on me, but terminal fuck ups are terminal.

The pain was tangible. It literally hurt me. This was about a couple of years ago now and I just can't bring myself to start that game again. I haven't bought New Vegas either, cause I hear thats even MORE buggy. Damn shame, I truly loved Fallout 3, but broken games are broken.
This is why I always create 5 save files and rotate through them (most often, for RPGs, but really for any game that allows it). It spares you that sort of grief, and has the added benefit of allowing you to backtrack in the case of missing critical elements of something (or just wanting to replay a particular stretch; I usually keep seperate saves for my more beloved moments in a games' story).

I got into this habit during the PSX-era Final Fantasies, to be honest. Multiple save files for specific boss fights and cutscenes. Needless to say, I had at least 2 memory cards per FF.

If you don't eventually go back to them, I'd say it's "wrong" in the sense that you aren't really getting your money's worth for such a minimal time-frame of entertainment.

To each their own, though.

How fucking much free time do you people have? 1000 hours? That is goddamn absurd.

Myself about maybe 25 hours. At the time of writing it has bored me to death.
