You don't need 7 hours per day for A levels. A levels are easy. 1.5 hours is enough if you do it a decent amount of days.

I never revised. The most I would do would have been to flick idly through my workbook and try to remember anything that I remembered having difficulty with. Then I just turned up and did the exam and buggered about until they eventually told us we could leave. I swear they take far too long. Honestly, they gave us 2 & 1/2 hours to do one english literature paper. I had it done an hour and a half in, then spent 15 or so minutes of adding my own graffiti to the desk and then the inevitable boredom finally takes its toll, I removed my blazer, rolled it into a pillow and went to sleep.

I "revised" for 7-8 hours a day for my GCSE/A level exams, this involved me being locked in my room, doing about 2 hours worth of revision and 6 hours worth of using my imagination to stop myself from committing suicide.

Well to be honest, in my studies I can't really afford to not revise throughout the year, so usually 30 hours a week on top of classes, labwork etc, because the amount of stuff I have to know for my exams is too much to revise on the 2 weeks period we get for preperation.

During the 2 weeks I study minimum 8 hours a day, but it easily goes towards the 10-12 hours a day. Doesn't really bother me though because the stuff I'm studying facinates me.

And yes, I do have a life and I do go out at least once a week. the other nights I go to a bar with mates.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for claiming such a high amount but I genuinally have been working 14 hour days in the library... In that I arrive at 8.30, breakfast and start by 9.30, coffee at 11.30, lunch at 1.30, coffee at 5, dinner at 7, leave at about 10. so thats getting on for about 10 hours of work.
I am however in the middle of my masters finals. theres no way i could have ever done that much at A-level. But when exams really matter and your timeframe is short people get 'the fear'..... which is a terifying yet wonderful period where you have no time to procastinate or stress, you just work your ass off as long as you can to try and desperatly understand the content in the next 48 hours.
And yes I have worked all year at it but when you have exams on consecutive days over a week you need that cramming time to adjust your head to the module. I really hate my uni for scheduling 6 exams in 5 days....

Nah, British History 1865-1915. S'alright, the exam is quite well structured. Answer two of three questions, one is on domestic polices, one is on problems in Ireland, one is on foreign policy. And since foreign policy is a fucking *****, I can mostly just revise the other two.
Same as mine then, except mines on the Cold War and the questions could be on anything in the syllabus.
Is it AQA or Edexcel? Mine's AQA. And yeah, it doesn't help too much - I could still get a ***** of a question on Ireland or domestic policy, but broad strokes, it helps focus you a little.
I'm pretty sure mines AQA.....although it could be Edexcel. We're given two 'depth' questions wish will focus on any 10 year period, and one 'breadth' question which focuses on the entire 1945-2004.

Did you have coursework as well? Ours was on the American Civil Rights movement.
Yeah, same - yours must be AQA then. Scraped an A on mine (just as I scraped an A in History last year). Doubt I'll be that lucky in this exam though. Surprisingly, 50 years of political upheaval and constant problems is rather difficult to keep track of in your head.

I did 3. 4 hours at the most per day. I just don't have the mental capacity to concentrate for long. But my college did mention that it's not how long you revise for, it's how well you revise.

I also I say I did revise in the past tense because I've done my exams now, so I'm currently trying to find work experience / piss about at home.

I don't envy your topic. At the very least there is constant themes in mine (security, power, ideology) that you can keep referring back to.

I'm in a reasonably good position though. I got 55/60 for the coursework and an A for AS. So I have to get 50/90 in this exam to get an A overall, and 70/90 to get an A*.

I don't want to think like that though. I'm worried I'll get complacent and screw up. Pride before the fall etc.

I don't even know how to work out how to get the grades I need, such is my rather casual and paradoxical approach to exams. Freak the fuck out about doing them and revising but never bother to actually learn everything I can to help myself with them.

Anyway, good luck.

I'm sure there'll be a thread come results day, there normally is.

When it comes to revising I suddenly find I have a lot more time to watch all the movies I've got in my backlog instead of actually revising...
