Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a thread to introduce myself. I initially came to this site to watch Zero Punctuation. While I was here though, I was impressed by all the good discussion here.

So I thought I would ask you all: how much time do you usually spend in one week on video games? I've loved video games since I got a Playstation 1 as an eight year old, but from that time till about the age of 17, I was only allowed to play about half an hour a week. Of course, I play a lot more now, but for awhile it was kind of bad to be restricted that much.

Anyway, has anybody else had a similar experience?

Half an hour a week?!
Fuck me, man, your parents are nazis or something.

But as for me... is this how much can I, or how much do I? 'Cos with my sleep schedule I'm guessing I could spend at least like... 60 hours a week doing it, but I do a lot less.

Heck yeah, man. Like I said, I play a lot more now that I'm an adult. My whole childhood was like that, however. My mother had a problem with video games, and I wouldn't have even gotten them if it weren't for my grandmother, who is an avid gamer. (yeah, my grandmother, weird right?) Just had to make the best of it though. Looking back on it, I was sort of more motivated to get out the door and get a job, go to college, and make my own rules because of it, so that was a good thing, right?

A stupid amount of time, being unemployed does that to you I guess. Maybe i'll apply to Uni or something, there was a course on game design advertised... That's a "I cba to work yet so i'll pretend to look busy" course if I have ever seen one but hey, it's a course on programming and game design... Neat.

Me and Rookie are always on LoL together, several games a day. I don't even feed much anymore! To be fair, when I play almost exclusively jungle, usually HECARIM it's difficult to feed properly. It's not like I have to walk back to a lane and get constantly dived... STUPID OP JAX FUCK OHMAGERDWTFNDNWDIFNJEFHJN

[sub]Fucking despise top lane :([/sub]

Feather Boots + Iceborn Gauntlet + Spirit Visage = Invincible HECARIM. Shutting down fed Ezreals alllll day.

Hey man, welcome to the community! (First new member of 2013?)

Well, between school, sports, and other obligations I can usually only squeeze in about an hour a weekday.
Weekends, however, probably 3 a day.

So about 11-12 a week I'd say. ...Damn that number is too small.

Hrm, I would say between 20-30 hours. 40 if I find a rather particularly great game and If I have the time. But 20-30 hours is the regular.

Impossible to calculate. I usually play a few hours at night, though not every night, and a lot more frequently on weekends. Depends whether I'm on boyfriend duty, or I just feel like reading or doing something else. Summer holidays are upon me now, so obviously I'll be gaming a lot more often but even then I dunno, sometimes as little as a few hours a week, sometimes as much as around 15, 20? Roughly.

That's about what I do, a job and college is very time consuming. I always tell people though, if you like gaming, you can make time for it. A lot of people associate the hobby with slackers, but many people I know devote less time to gaming than most non gamers spend on TV and movies, and they still game a good deal. I just thought I'd bring the subject up because I'm sure most of us do not spend an inordinate amount of time on gaming, it's a hobby and probably a lot better for your brain than more passive entertainment activities.

My parents tend to see all activity that isn't studying as bad, but i can sneak in an average of 3-4 hours on a weekday. Weekends tend to vary since I'm really active

Welcome to the escapist, standard procedure dictates that I must take all cookies and cookie related items away from your possession. They are in my safekeeping until further notice. Stay out of the basement and have fun!

2 to 3 hours a day (depending on the day).

There are just other hobbies that I do besides playing video games, so I try to balance my other hobbies with gaming.

Depends on how busy with work or other things I am that week. Given it's been damned cold outside recently and with the holiday season keeping work slow that's translated to having plenty of time to sit back and enjoy gaming lately.

We'll see how long that keeps up however.

According to my steam I've spent 84 hours for the past two weeks. So I guess half that and I spend 42 hours a week playing games. I spend another four just browsering the internet. So add another 28 hours to that, and you end up with 70 hours a week. I really don't have a life and I'm okay with that.

I'm able to spend pretty much every hour in a week playing video games. I'm unemployed and am not in school, so I have no commitments to keep me from doing so.

However, the amount of hours I actually spend playing games per week depends. I got Pokémon Black 2 for Christmas, so I've been playing that sporadically throughout the day, every day since. I run the battery on my 3DS low nearly every day. So, that's like... 3-4 hours per day? 21-28 hours per week? I think that's right. I can't math.
