I pretty much have at the moment. Aside from a little Skyrim here and there, I haven't played anything since going back to college after christmas break. That is drastically different to my former gaming habits. Of course, I'm now completely addicted to Magic the Gathering again...

As I'm playing Skyrim punctuated by a few BF3 brakes I wondered "What would it take for me to completely give up gaming?" and I must say I was completely stumped. I seriously could not think of any real scenario's where I would truly give up my cherished games. Not for money, nor school, nor girlfriend. Sure maybe I would play more moderately but that would be it. Has this question occurred to any of you?
The opportunity, ability and desire to have as much time invested in having sex (not attempting to acquire it) in equal ratio (1:1) as I spend on gaming.

That seems both fair and legitimate of an answer, albeit improbable.

If life became interesting enough so that I didn't need to game.
Really, the only reason I game is because life is utterly boring by itself, and gaming adds in the entertainment I need, and an opportunity to explore ideas and worlds that are uncommon or impossible in real life.

I think 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000? would do it. I would probably find something else to enoy myself whit that kind a money

Money of a large enough sum. I can invest it in OTHER things I enjoy, like books, tattoos, booze, music-experiences and the like.
I really don't game that much right now as it is (ironically because I can't afford it), so I don't think of it as that great of a loss.

I drop gaming for weeks at a time because of work, so I'd say I could give up permanently if I needed/wanted to.
The main time I game is at holidays, I'll try and finish all those pesky games I haven't completed yet! Got to get my money's worth!

honestly, I'm like one crappy paycheck away from pawning all my gaming paraphernalia. I love games to death, but its becoming increasingly apparent that this is not a sustainable hobby for the poor man.

I will quit when the games coming out are disappointing messes that aren't interesting or fun at all. Cause in the end isn't it all about fun
Pretty much that. Either that or they all become non-F2P MMOs.
EDIT:...or otherwise multiplayer only. I hate multiplayer.

The world would have to end, or I'd have to die. That's pretty much it. Even if we reached a point where literally every new game coming out was complete shit (with is unlikely), or if people stopped making games completely (even more unlikely), I'd just keep playing the old ones. Of course there'll end up being points in my life where I don't have the time or need a break, and decide to stop for a few weeks or so, but I love games too much to ever consider giving them up completely.

I will quit gaming if I don't have the time to continue it, or if I lose the means to play (power shuts off, expensive new console generation, world explodes etc etc.)

I don't know if I'd ever give up gaming completely, but I've already given it up a lot. I buy less than 10 new games a year, and I pretty much told myself that I'm done buying new consoles except for handhelds.

So once the Wii, PS3 and 360 become obsolete, I'm even more done than I am right now.

Gaming is an expensive hobby, and it's not even my favorite. I love a good game now and then, and I usually spend a few hours a week on it, but it's just not worth as much to me as it was when I was younger.

Of course like other people have said, not much would stop me from simply playing games I already own. So I guess I'll never give it up entirely. I just may eventually stop buying new stuff.

I would have to be completely incapable of ANY movement.

Seriously, when I'm 70, I can see myself still playing video games.

To give up gaming completely the publishers would have to unite and all of them would start using the "Always on" internet requirement. No one's connection is 100% stable 100% of the time. The day this happens is the day I would be most likely to give up gaming completely.

Death or the amputation of both arms and both legs, I suppose.

Even though 95% of the games released these days are awful, there are still older games and a few rare gems coming out that keep me hooked.

I don't think I would give up gaming, now if you offered me enough things to stop playing games than I would give up gaming, make me rich and powerful, I'd be willing to give up gaming.
