How negative can the world get?

It is obvious that the world is going through a lot at the moment. With the economic down fall, the war, global warming and the swine flue the war is going through dark and negative times. But this isn?t the time to lose hope. The world and its people are so wrapped up on what bad things are happening that they are now unable to see the light and the positive things. Of course the things that are going on are negative but that doesn?t mean we all should be that way. We should try to look for the things that are good from this. Sure there is nothing good happening currently with global warming but it is the lesson it has brought along. Now people are working to make a ?greener planet?. Sure the global warming is negative but the lesson and what the people are doing is positive. If it wasn?t for global warming we would never be doing what we are doing. If we all joined together and worked to see the positives in every thing that is going on we will realize things aren?t as bad as they seem without ignoring what is going on. With all that has happened we have been led into a big dark vortex but there is a light that shines at the end of this vortex, though it might be far and dim we can still reach it, with every one working together to think positive we will be able to take a sure step forward towards the light on the unstable ground we stand on inside of this dark vortex. We need to stop looking at things in such negativity, it seems like this world need it to function, it appears like we need murder and some thing wrong to continue to live. How about we put more focus on the good things that are happening around the world. When we watch the news murders and robberies get minutes of coverage and you see very little good things being reported. Sure thinking positive wont save us from the swine flue or wont get us out of out vortex but like I said it is going to be a step in the right direction, a step forward. It will give the people hope to give one large push and will ripple. We need to start viewing every thing as positive as we can and look for the best outcomes while knowing what the worst outcome may be. If we only look for the worst outcome we will make that outcome happen.

I know this isn?t much, one person cant do much but small changes from to time but if at least one person sees this and changes their outlook my job has been done.

sorry for the rant but i needed to let it all out.

Meh I just roll with it so i have been unemployed for 6+ months, so the odds of me getting a job outside the military at the moment is slim. Big deal, you have no control over the economy or war or major politics really aslong as you have a working brain, life and a working body you can survive and be moderatley happy. Bring it, if im poor big deal it gives me an excuse to enact a dream of mine travel the world, and float from place to place for a year or two.

Do things you like to do on a regular basis, be nice to those around you and avoid assholes. The basic recipe for a good life.

TV, internet, newspapers - it's all negative this and negative that but if you actually look with your own eyes you'll find more often than not it isn't.
Most of the news headlines will be negative. It sells more.

It is true that a greater percentage of humanity than ever before have been lifted above the poverty line. Look at what we have to be grateful for. The Berlin wall is down. The risk of nuclear holocaust is over. Poverty has been hugely reduced in most of the northwestern hemisphere and the rest of the world is catching up. Even terrorism is in retreat even in its heartlands. The IRA are gone. Al Qaeda seem to be in retreat (though they seem to be resurging in Iraq again...) Yes, there is a recession but everyone knows it is going to end eventually. And yes, there are bastards big and small, but at least they're a minority... come onto any forum or talk to any group of people and you can see that most people are well meaning.

The greatest threat to the world now comes from our own incompetence. There aren't any real risks of all-out war or a global world disaster unless people really screw things up. Russia might still be rattling its sabres but thats the last truly strong country that's still interested in war, and thats just because they have a nationalist fool of the worst kind in charge of their country... not to mention associated with a murderer (the whole polonium incident.) I'm not talking about Medvedev when I talk about who rules Russia by the way.

Let me compare the situation today to 100 years ago.

100 years ago, the world was at war, everyone was highly nationalistic, protectionist, and afraid of each other, and charity was seen as a dirty word in places. Today, we have Europe at peace and in alliance, the strongest country in the world as a democracy, albeit with serious flaws, no country really wanting war, free trade, and huge amounts of aid being given to poor countries. Yes, there are problems, serious problems, but in one prime ministers words, "You've never had things this good."

EDIT: well, the risk of a nuclear holocaust is almost over. There's a very small chance North Korea could still screw that up, but I prefer to remain optimistic.

Swine flu, it's literally just the flu. I don't think that has the world gripped with despair, no offence.

We'll have to wait until fall to see if swine flu turns into another Spanish flu.

I always felt that the most depressing thing going on is how everyone goes off and buys 100% of Al Gore's Global Warming horseshit anyway.

You just have to roll with punches sometimes. Things will get better with the right attitude.

Well the thing is very few people are thinking of ways to fix this that are feasibly possible. One being ethenol fuel, which actually takes more fossil fuels in the development of it than what it can produce.

The reason being this. (not him arguing against Al Gore but because of how bad people think this really is)
As for troubles in war, well there are always troubles in war, but the only ones we've ever lost are ones that we were to frickin' weak in our resolve to finish.

It's just a slightly worse type of the flu, but there is nothing else to scare people at the moment so it has to be exaggerated

I suppose. One assumes it is a sign of how good life is at the moment for us to all be worrying about the flu.

We'll be alright, long as we stop being idiotic. You get sick, well, Chicken noodle soup costs 78c a can, so that's an easy fix. Sure, it's a recession, but they happen every few decades, and then they end. We'll be ok.

You think this is bad? You just wait until 2012 when North Korea snaps and causes a nuclear war which causes a zombie apocalypse. Organize before they rise.
