How not to get banned.

I figured out how not to get banned a while ago.
Don't criticize the moderators (Who are all awesome people who are unquestionably right about everything they say and who's whims fancies and opinions I will gladly let dictate the course of my life, not because I'm afraid of getting banned, but because like I said they are just all around good people.)

And 2 if you have a very simple question to answer make sure you answer it in the most convoluted roundabout way possible so that at a glance it looks like you put some thought and effort into your posting even when anyone who reads your post can tell that you obviously hadn't.

Oh, and it helps if you don't go around calling people fags or motherfuckers because... morality.

Now the first and third rules I can totally jive with because... Yay morality! and the Moderators are all amazing specimens at the peak of human existence. but the second one annoys me a lot. Because wasn't it Shakespeare who said "Brevity is the soul of wit." And with the all mighty moderators banning everyone who doesn't write a dissertation every post (Because they're completely within their right and totally awesome for doing so) all the Shakespeares go somewhere else and you're left with people like me. And I mean I'm fine, but I'm no Shakespeare.

Did I mention how awesome all the moderators are, especially the ones reading this post, you guys are my favorite, but not the best because how can one perfect human be better that another perfect human. Am I right? Huh? please have mercy...

That seems to be mostly the case in "User Reviews". My only warning comes from me posting there without knowing about that rule and posting in a thread older than 1 month

I have seen plenty of people posting in way older threads in news and in game discussions without getting warnings and that let me to misbelieve it would be the same in User Reviews without confirming it.

I once got a warning because another guy trolled me. He got a warning, too, but he even messaged me, apologized that I also got a warning, and said that it was stupid.

If you want to be extra careful: don't post.

The fact that this thread exists is the reason why I have no desire to begin posting here again. The Escapist is still a good source for gaming news, but these forums have become a completely sanitized experience full of political correctness, pussy-footing, and the elimination of honesty.

Posters should not live in fear of moderaters. They should be free to express themselves without worrying about crossing an arbitrary line in the sand about what constitutes trolling or "being an arsehole." FUCK that.

To be fair that's somewhat I like saying if Gary Johnson wins the 2012 Presidential Election please ban me, none of those three individuals are the sort who would break the rules enough to get banned.

Being a huggly person who doesn't get angry with people very often goes a long way, as strange as that might seem. I've never really understood rage on the internet. If you can keep that contained, then there's a pretty good shot that you won't ever get reported or put in any sort of trouble with mods.
