I'm Curious, How often do you Escapist people run a Virus scan on your Computer / Mac?

Given im on Windows 7 x64 im less open to attack from a lot of the older viruses that affect the x86 systems but not meaning my PC cant be a carrier of sorts, I Tend to run a Full Deep Virus Scan with Avast! once a month and Every time I come up clean.

I've also met PC Hypochondriacs who scan almost Daily!

So Ya How often do you scan if you have Anti-Virus at all! also what Anti Virus do you use?

(Please no Flames about which AV is better xD )

AVG, which works well enough, I think. It's supposed to everyday, but I have a rather bad habit of just cancelling it. It makes it run ridiculously slow. But then, hey, it's free.

Same here, although I usually just play on the PS3 while it's scanning.

I usually only do it when I feel like it, but I indefinitely scan after a "very pleasurable" visit to certain sites I find on google.
Yeah, porn.

You can't be too certain. Even if they're on the other side of the screen, doesn't mean they can't still infect you with virus. ^.^

My computer runs an auto scan every (week)day at noon, it's on while I'm at work so I don't really notice it (except during days off) and I run a deep scan 2 or 3 times a year, though I've yet to do so on this machine (I got it in August).

On my old machine I got a few small hits once or twice in the 6+ years I used it, so I seem to be doing pretty well so far.

Edit: I use AVG btw.

I deal in network security, I have never been infected by viruses, worms, or bugs. The McAfee client that I have scans at the end of every month.

My computer scans automatically every twelve hours, and I occasionally scan more if at any time I encounter anything odd. So usually about 10-15 times a week minimum.
Like this, but I think it might be more frequent.

Oh yeah, and it scans in the background, and it goes fairly slow so that it doesn't consume much RAM.

Daily. Sometimes moreso. Depending on how much I'm in Windows on a given day.

I use Antivir. It's got a really high rate of false positives, but at 99.9% detection ratio, give me some of that. I keep a lengthly supply of system restore points in case something goes disastrously wrong.

Mine scans automatically once a day. I just leave it be and nothing evr comes up.

On a side note though, ironically enough, some 'demo' anti-virus software was auto-downloadd and declared that my computer was swarming. So I panicked, shut down everything and ran a full scan at max speed. Turns out that there was nothing, and the 'anti-virus' software was a hoax.

Mind you, the only time I have ever gotten a virus is from games that operate with GameSpy. The irony.

Daily, because my home PC is also my work PC. If my machine was just used for personal stuff I'd probably go for once a week however.

well, you made me virusscan, hope you are happy !

normally i let it run at night, when i was dling a big file or something
it activly scans when i dl new things anyway, so does it really matter

now not flaming, but which is the best anti virus anyway nowadays? guessing some free, not too farspread one is better than a big one that viruses are programmed to detect and hide from?

I do a check for spyware/adware every week, and I make sure to do a deep scan with ESET NOD 32 every month. I am on x64 architecture too so I get the same benefits as you. Can't be too careful though.

I also custom scan items that I download which have the possibility of being harmful.

Twice a day with three different programs. Once at 6am and again at 11pm.
Ive never had any computer issues in my whole life, possibly due to this.
