When I was 1 I walked eyeball first into a lit cigarette my dad was holding down by his side, does that count?
Beyond that, seeing my aunt die a prolonged and horribly painful death to lung cancer that spread throughout her entire body as a result of smoking kind of turned me off the whole idea.

Never have. I was too young to smoke until recently, since I'm 18 now it's just because I hate the idea of doing it. Same goes for alcohol, illegal drugs, things of that nature. Never had the weird inferiority complex other people had where they insisted on breaking the law and poisoning themselves to raise a big middle finger to the people mature and intelligent enough to tell them that what they were doing was wrong. Never will in the future either. Hopefully they raise taxes on them and ban them from more places, I dislike seeing smokers around.
I was 18. I was at my first college party and someone offered it to me while I wasn't entirely in my right mind. I didn't enjoy it then, haven't had one since. Then again... I haven't gotten wasted since either, since I didn't enjoy that either. Not really my thing. Made the debauched Anthropology team quite happy to keep me around to be their designated driver, only sane/sober person to keep anyone out of trouble at times though. While I learned the fine art of 'have one drink at the start, nurse it all night and people still open up just as much as to the others...and your head's clear enough you can actually write it down when you have the chance...'
Interesting thread so far. 24 years old and I've never smoked cigarettes, weed or, cigars. I didn't smoke as a kid because it was hammered into me how evil the habit is. Once I grew up a little bit though nobody ever offered me one but if they had, I always associated them with my step-dad so I didn't want to be anything like him. I grew up a bit more and have since come to the realization that I probably can't afford to collect comics, collect games and smoke so I've stayed away from cigs, cigars, weed, alcohol, etc.
Hey other non-smokers: take those sticks out of your asses. You're giving non-smokers like me a bad name. If smokers smoke around me I really don't mind it. Just don't blow smoke in my face is all. I'm probably one of the few non-smokers who think it's bullshit that you can't smoke indoors anymore. Smoking Sections were a good thing, dammit.

I had a single puff when I was like 11'ish by my dad, who had quit smoking decades ago. He had just happened to come across a rahter high-quality cigar given to him by a friend, lit it, noticed me staring, said "wanna try it? I haven't had a cigar in ages, and this may be your only chance!"
I said "ok", inhaled it (baaaad idea) coughed for the next 20 mins.
I reckon it was a GOOD thing my dad gave me a taste of it when I was so young, it may have helped in permanently putting me off the mere thought of smoking because all I can remember is that horrible taste and choking on fumes.

I was 14 when I tried my first Cigarette. Didn't like it too much, but I still smoked occasionally, but only ever with friends. Now? I don't smoke at all; I stopped smoking everything all together around 24 months ago, now.
15, the reason was a girl i liked smoked and i wanted to have a reason to socialize some more with her. it worked like a charm, though i did switch to cigars.
I smoke, I like smoking more for the fact I get bored during hour breaks at work I read a lot but the food in there isn't that great and the people who don't smoke are pretty boring to talk to so I go out and smoke.

I have never smoked a ciggarette... i don't like thought of inhaling, but I am a pipe smoker... smoke 3-4 times a week, so not much, but it's a good outlet!
Also, flavoured tobacco is awesome, especially vanilla!
