If anyone backs up whatever they are saying and know what they are talking about, I'll take them seriously. Most of the time though I really don't care what people are saying here, It is just fun to discuss.

Depends on how intelligently they state their opinion and how trustworthy they seem ("trust" being a relatively loose term here built through previous encounters and conversations). If they state good points, I'm more likely to listen. If they say something along the lines of "Tat gam sux @$$ cuz I got pwned like a noob even tho I'm a pro"...well, I'll just ignore them completely.

OT: So close to a 1,000!!!

After the slew of rap threads tht i've been apart of I must say that I now find the Escapist to be less intellegent and open-minded than I used to so that causes me to puse a bit more when taking an Escapists opinion into consideration.

Depends how well I know them, how they present themselves and what not. An of course how wrong they are.

I'm not suprised people respect each other's opinions here, even if they don't agree with them. After all most people's opinions here are genuine and they present their opinions well. I wouldn't give a shit what someone thought on youtube or any other site.

Youtube really contains the bowels of the internet.

This site has far better users than the cess-pit forums I used to dwell on, so I do give the average user here a lot more weight than usual.
It's more important to understand the perspective I think than to prove that you're right all the time.

Of course, this is the internet, which ultimately seems opposed to the notion of rational discussion because anonymity imposes on us a sort of right to be a complete asshole..or at least the illusion of it.

So I take in the general consensus and try to understand the rationale first before just jumping out there like an asshole; arguing opinions on the net might be it's single greatest pastime (short of bitching about lag), but today, I tire of the circular discussions and constant ad hominem attacks.
