So, I was thinking, if we were to create this continent. We probably need a map... Anyone with paint/photoshop skills that can hook us up?

You'll need to put a lot of thought into the geography of this, actually, both human and physical. You'll need to determine, in great detail, the topography, geology, climate, and biome, including all food chains and especially rock types. I mean, you can't even build in certain rocks, let alone build skyscrapers on them.


You'll also need to determine the location, size, influence, and constitution of all settlements. As well as all roads and other man-made constructs.

Methinks you just accidentally gave yourself the most difficult job here, since, as you make the map, you are pretty much making the continent.

As we speak I have an entire army of scientists genetically augmenting the landscape to support life, the things we have so far are:

* Fresh flowing water.
* Animal lifeforms (cows, sheep etc)
* Plantlife that absorbs CO2 at a rate of 300% faster than current plantlife.
* Insect life (Bee's, ants etc).

So if I'm reading this right, then you are planning to completley terraform a new landscape. You are then going to introduce species to this environment. How exactly do you plan to control this? Are you just going to copy an existing ecosystem and attempt to spread it out over a large area? Are you going to try and replicate an entire continent? Is this going to be a completley unique ecosystem built from the ground up? Is this going to be an enclosed environment, sheltered from the outside world? If not, how do you plan to handle the immigration and emigration of various species, and what about the impact an invasive species could potentially have on our environment?

These are important questions to ask. The laws and regulations put in place by the government will be dependent upon the type of environment we are living in and the resource that are readily available inside of it. If we lack these details, we won't be able to plan ahead for a stable and sustainable food industry. Without something as basic as that, our society will inevitably fall apart. And that's not even taking into account energy sources and the finite quantity of various other resources we will be using.

Assuming that's meant to be taken literally... no. You should understand that there are some things that you just don't vote on. Human rights, for example (also in a pure format democracy can fail just as hard if not worse than fascism and communism. So, yeah).

Based on the assumption that plants are still using photosynthesis to produce sugar, water, and oxygen, I'm fairly certain that if plants are utilizing CO2 3 times faster (or, three times as much CO2 in the same amount of time), oxygen would be produced 3 times faster (or, 3 times as much O2 in the same amount of time). That isn't necessarily bad at first, but we would be living in super-volatile living conditions.

Any biology or chemistry nerds want to double check that for me?

The air is 21% Oxygen and 0.038 Carbon Dioxide. Even if all the CO2 in the air was photsynthesised (unlikely) it would make almost no significant impact to oxygen levels.

Also as for "nerd", I prefer the term intellectual badass.

I don't know where you heard this before. I guess its slightly Andrew Ryanish, but also slightly Combineish, I don't know. Maybe also Spore-ish? All I do know is, we need a gladiatorial arena for people to fight Genetically altered animals (developed by our science team to be huge, breath fire ect)and we need the big citidel to be able to stand up on robotic legs and walk about, shooting plasma cannons and trampling buildings. If we can we should also provide it with the means to take off into space, because its gonna be airtight anyway so...

The island was designed to walk on enormous legs and move itself if the situation ever required it.
also on a few of the outlying islands there is a defence network of rail guns and anti air cannons. these are supported by a compliment of orbital mach cannons.
