Not really sure but what I know is, I want my darn health bar back! So what if it´s less realistic it´s more fun and you can't just run to cover and suck on your thumb to recover health.

They should go back to making decent single player campaigns that are more than 5 hours long and not half-assed. Multiplayer will eventually get ruined by campers, whiners, noobs, and cheaters, so why not give us something enjoyable with the game? Or, you know, try something DIFFERENT. I watched a trailer for the new Medal of Honor, and it looked just like CoD4. Need more games like Quake III.

Larger Multiplayer battles. I want to see at least 32 player games, Possibly even 64 players, like in the battlefield series.

Anything they do will end up the same way. Everyone will say the same thing. IT IS A GIMMICK. And then if you add RPG elements it will get called a Bioshock clone. The best thing they can do is give the entire genre as rest for a year or 2. Let the "journalists" get over the burnout.

Oh and a better lobby system would be nice. Why can't we have them like FEAR where we get to choose which lobby we want to go in instead of waiting for 20 minutes for the game to find us a match that is almost over. Oh right they do that so people can't boost achievements don't they? Makes more sense to have a crappy matchmaking system then forget online achievements.

How should any genre advance in a way they haven't been since the Playstation or so?

I can't see it happening until the next big leap in technology, and who knows when that'll happen.

The genre as a whole should dig itself a pit, stick its head in it and have someone else fill it with dirt. I'm sick of FPS, as they already hit epitome three years ago with Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 and the genre has made no improvements worth noticing since.

I'm sure somebody is gonna say that newer shooters are better because "they're super realistic" and "multiplayer lobbies are better now" or some other flawed argument.

Get rid of this, one new gimmick idea per game thing.

My game has timetravel, but otherwise is a generic FPS.
My game has the ability to make hills of earth, but otherwise is a generic FPS.
My game gives you plasmid powers, but otherwise is a generic FPS.

How about we get a FPS with something truly original and refreshing.

Maybe that means we need another retro-FPS like Painkiller (but like the original, not the crappy new ones) that gets back to the roots of the genre and what made it fun instead of just looking prettier. Or maybe I'm taking the toaster thing too far.
Yeah, as I said above look into Bulletstorm. That has more akin to Painkiller-esque shoot 'em ups than your average modern-day shooter, all about the fun.
Indeed. I'm hoping that turns out to be good, since the same people are making it, or at least those who've stuck around this long after getting picked up by Epic. I'm a bit concerned by seeing the E3 gameplay demo had a run button and a reload button, the absence of both of which made Painkiller so refreshing, and even worse a significant amount of plot/dialog, and it seemed significantly slower-paced than Painkiller, which is a typical symptom of consolitis. The trailer moved much quicker, like a fast, twitchy game should, though, so I'll hold off on jumping to any conclusions until I actually see the finished PC version.

-NOTHING FROM CODMW2(except controls, those are fine)
-Deep and intriguing yet undestandable plot
-medium/high graphics(not asking for Crysis 5)
-Different Enemies(as in different models)
-Balanced online play
-additional co-op, either an alternate story mode with 2 characters or some totally unrelated
missions
-some kind of horde/firefight/zombie mode
-Health Bar, please
-no need for extreme realism, it's supposed to be a game
-Cool levels both in story and online mode

I think I'm not asking Too much, right?

EDIT: GOOORE!!!! I WANT BLOOOD!!!!!!!!

MOAR RPG elements!

I want to shoot fireballs from my eyes and bolts of lightning from me arse!!!
You can get that effect by eating a very hot curry and rubbing your eyes before washing your hands.

And my incredibly crude joke aside I think we need to mix up the multiplayer, make it actually different from say MW2 or BC2. Bioshock 2 had an interesting multiplayer but it was let down by a level up system that has no place in the fps genre.
