Think about strategy, don't think about aim. Learn to fire by instinct, but always consider the "big picture" of battle. Know where players are vulnerable to surprise attacks, and know what spots are easy to defend. Playing for both teams, rather than having a preference, helps you learn. If you ever think "I'm exposed to a sniper when I cross this alleyway", remember that. Next time you're on the other team, get a sniper rifle at cover that alleyway.

When you shoot, don't focus too much on the position of your finger on the thumbstick. Just make sure you always hold the controller in the same grip, then use the force.

I don't see why people see the PC as the ultimate gaming platform.

It can be used as gaming, sure. But the consoles are actually MADE for games. Unlike computers.

Play star wars battlefront little lady. One and two. I'm no master and Fps and even I get through that one. All you gotta do shoot. Throw bombs. And then when things get really tough. Go kamikaze on there assess with mines and rocket launchers(prepare to lose friends with friendly fire on, double points if you combine kamakazi strategy with tight corridors).

other than that I might be so willing as to percribe halo to ya. Don't go mulitplayer on that or any fps games not unless you want a beatdown. Just play online and invite friends. Can't find friends? Ask for some to play with cha. I'd be willing to think if you asked nice enough those of us with free time would invite ourselves to a play session with ya. I guarantee I won't snipe ya till I you have me beat by five kills.

Oh I forgot to mention. Star wars battlefront is on ps2. But you probably knew that already.

Practice makes perfect. If you play for hours eventually you will become good at it.

how is a console "made" for games? the only thing that might be "made" for gaming other than the fact it doesn't have alot of the hiccups because the softwatre (game) is tested with the same hardware/software which might cause less problems unlike a PC

on a PC there will be many users with many different system configurations (the hardware and software), the developers cannot test every single damn system configuration, test for all configurations will take forever (quite literally) there for 'us' PC gamers have to deal with conflicts that might occur that would cause the game to crash (anything might happen) however PC gamers have the advantage to practically use any hardware to use with the software and PC gamers can modify the game software to our wants

Best thing I find is to start of with the large automatic guns on the game, these are usually incredibly overpowered and offer a great starting point for newbies.

Just practise that is the only thing really once you have basics you will do fine. For example I am fairly good at CoD games but it has taken me nearly 40hours of plays to get good at TF2. Even then I don't know if I am that good as I don't have a group I play with too often since TF2 got looped in an update and now I have to redownload it. The reason why females seem genetically bad at video games is that males have a higher natural 3d and spatial awareness perception. Why I dunno if it is true I only don't know but that is the reason for it.

I do this, completely accidentally,

i'll die, look away, come back and bam, you = dead

also

take a smaller gun, and keep your eyes open

There you go. The only proper answer to your question.

FPS games have no place on consoles.

/thread
Are you kidding? I would so much rather use a 360 controller for FPS play instead of a mouse.
Buy FPS games on PC, then use 360 controller. Although I fail to see how it's better, there you have it.
Ah but then I'd lose a unified achievements system, and even if you didn't care about achievements, that makes PC and 360 FPS gaming equal at best, I hardly see how that means "FPS's have no business on the 360"

I agree the REAL shit is on consoles, consoles are responsible for some of the shittiest FPSs. Good point you made there.
You might not have noticed that PC mostly now only got ancient FPS games while the consoles are growing more and more with newer titles and a wider horizon of head shots.
(I'm looking at TF2, Counter-strike, Unreal Tournament etc...)

I am aware there are some newer FPS games available on the PC, but they are mostly all the time released on the console as well, and sometimes those newer titles and FPS games completely neglect the existence of the PC, while the consoles are rarely ignored at all.

If you want to play out-dated games, feel free to sit down at your PC, but if you want to upgrade a bit... Yes, you'd have to see a console.
There's little choice to be made.
Not like you can rely on steam for the rest of your life.

I've heard that girls just genetically suck at games, but I've seen a bunch of good girl gamers so I'm not particularly agreeing with this.
You seem to have been horribly misinformed girls are actually better suited for gaming then guys. Lady folk have better fine muscle control then we do so other smart sounding stuff from that one documentary on video games. Yeah.

Anywho getting better takes a lot of time. The best thing you can do is constantly play against people that are waaaay better then you are, you may not notice it but you will improve that way. Then you end up against people of your former skill level and I can guarantee you'll say to yourself "Man these guys suck".

1. Don't be an idiot.
2. Turn up your sensitivity, if you can turn faster than the enemy you will win at CQC.
3. Don't be an idiot.
4. Listen to your surroundings.
5. Keep your weapons loaded, reload whenever you can.
6. Common sense will make you better than 90% of other players.
7. Don't be an idiot.

The simple act of not being retarded can make you brilliant at most shooters.

I reload often. I always make sure my clip is full. However, there are times where reloading is your DOOOOOOM.

I also use a mouse and keyboard if possible because they are just....better?

Play alot, also stick to one game (helps if its your favorite) if the game has a campain mode do that first while it may be trash it will at least give you time to get used to the control scheme (X to reload vs right shoulder button, B to melee vs pressing the right stick)
