As many before me have said: Fire. Kill it with fire. The coolest, cheapest, and most effective way to go about it.

Please, for environmental sakes do NOT use any oil based chemicals on an anthill. Boil a pot of water, and dump it on top of the anthill, it will soak thru and broil those little bastards with extreme prejudice. If it doesn't get rid of all of them, do it at least one or two more times.
If they prove to be resilient, purchase some decent ant killer. But please do not dump gas/petrol or other oil-type products into the ground as it will also kill any plantlife as it seeps into the groundwater.
If you're hell-bent on setting fire to them, use any form of alcohol.

Foot powder, my old biology teacher was an entemologist, he says the talcum powder in the foot powder kills ants, just take a shovel, open the top up, pour a bunch in and get out quick.

Step 1: Determine the species of ant.

Step 2: Go to your local Home Depot/Lowes/hardware store.

Step 3: Locate something that looks like this, but corresponds to the particular species of ant you're trying to kill.

...remember to do some shopping around, the "retired Wehrmacht" scientists they have working at insecticide factories really know their shit, and probably have a bug killer that's specific to your situation.

Step 4: Purchase and take home.

Step 5: Use as directed.

Step 6: Keep petrol out of the groundwater, thanks.

Nuke it from orbit.
It's the only way to be sure.

Orbital lasers might work too.

Or if those solutions are too expensive.

Drench it it something really flammable, which also burns really long.
Set it on fire.

Call an exterminator?

Or nuke them from orbit.

Or use the orbital friendship canon.

The way I see it you have two choices here:

1) Mass Void Rays

2) Aardvark

If that fails you'll have to accept that they may be your new overlords.

Simple. Get some acid, put it in a water gun, shove the nozzle right down the hill, and FIRE! No more ants.
That's likely to destroy your water gun...

When my dad wants to get rid of wasp nests he uses bleach, I think it would work on an ant hill.
You will sterilise the lawn and cause a serious environmental hazard. Don't

Phorid flies.

Seriously, what better way than turning an ant colony into a zombie ant colony the watching all their heads fall off two weeks later?

Isocyanates, man. They'll never know what hit them.

Ok, I am not seriously recommending that, because it's far from environmentally friendly and safe.

I recommend fire.
