It's the final part of the most beloved game series in history...
They probably want to make it a good one.

Yup, those five people who in the PS3 and hate good games would definitely buy an amazing Valve game.wrecker77 said:Why do they hate the ps3 so much? They could be making more money. It baffles me.
They DO NOT HAVE ANY DEVS FOR IT!wrecker77 said:Why do they hate the ps3 so much? They could be making more money. It baffles me.
What? "in the ps3"? Learn words.Merteg said:Yup, those five people who in the PS3 and hate good games would definitely buy an amazing Valve game.wrecker77 said:Why do they hate the ps3 so much? They could be making more money. It baffles me.
That aside, I agree. Valve makes the best games, but has quite a waiting period.
1. Not VALVe, Gabe Newell hates the PS3 for whatever reason and I in turn dislike him.dodo1331 said:PS3 is incredibly hard to develop for. Valve pretty much hates PS3 with a passion because of that.wrecker77 said:Why do they hate the ps3 so much? They could be making more money. It baffles me.
I felt exactly the same upon hearing that, especially considering this will very likely be among the last, if not the last source engine game. So why involve all this heavy stuff now. You leave us hanging with the intense storyline significant end of 2 and then put us on hold like we don't freakin matter. You're already producing sequels to games that didn't even exist when ep 2 was released and it really honestly doesn't seem to me like valve really cares anymore.Powerman88 said:I
Now its been the better part of 2 years since that happened and we don't even have a phony baloney "the release date is a lie" from Valve. There have been no screens and no details except that Alex and Dog do sign language. SIGN LANGUAGE! I would like to appologize in advance to the differently advantaged gamers reading this but you have rabid fans waiting for the next 5 hours(ish) of game play to plunk down our $29.99 and you are wasting our time and your development dollars programming sign language?!
Valve did not do the ports. EA did. And it really isn't up to you or me to decide what a game developer chooses to do, especially at Valve where the devs choose which project they want to work on.nathan-dts said:My message to them is LEARN. I disagree. I think the market (IE us as consumers) has a huge impact on the direction of a developer. If we don't buy their games they don't exist as a profitable business (see GRIN earlier this week).YuheJi said:Valve did not do the ports. EA did. Its nice to hear that I am not crazy and the only one who feels this way. As much as I will never stop buying Valve's games because they are all awesome, I do feel kind of like a battered consumer that gets no respect from the company that creates the brilliant art I consume. Please Valve appreciate the fact that we support your status and lifestyle. Yes you earned every last smidge of respect you get, just be a LITTLE humble. That's all I ask.crooked_ferret said:I felt exactly the same upon hearing that, especially considering this will very likely be among the last, if not the last source engine game. The thing that really hurts is I can't argue with the quality of their games, but with something like this when they almost seem to be intentionally ignoring a title they know literally millions of gamers are hanging on edge for... Prioritizing new projects over finishing off the hl2 storyline which is something a lot of us have been desperate for here.
I think this really comes down to them taking advantage of what they know to be a secure market. I'm really starting to feel seriously let down by them, this whole sign language thing was an excuse, a lay off to placate some one asking a lot of questions.
Well the questions aren't going to stop Valve and the more time that you allow to go by the more likely you may actually start to hurt your fan base here. I don't know why the priorities over there keep shifting, and I honestly doubt any level of reaction from us save complete boycott (which we all know isn't happening) would change this.
Maybe it's a waste of your time, but not a waste of their money. Remember the facial emotive technology that made Alyx so personable? Similar technology is used to help children with autism. [http://www.facefx.com/story/video-game-technology-used-help-children-autism] (That link doesn't specifically talk about Valve tech, but I've heard of Valve's tech being used for this before...) If Valve develops a sign-language graphical component for computer systems, incorporating it into their video games is the absolute smallest part of the picture. Sorry, but Valve seems to be maturing past servicing their fans with great games. They're actually helping people with real problems.Powerman88 said:There have been no screens and no details except that Alex and Dog do sign language. SIGN LANGUAGE! Well, if you mean as a game developer, then I think you might be getting your wish.Jumplion said:Personally, to me, I want VALVe to be taken down a peg or two. I don't want them to suffer or anything, but I do want them to realize that they are not invulnerable and they can screw up to. I've just been getting a really bad vibe from VALVe, they seem to be stumbling everywhere with the PS3 support crap, the stupid TF2 unlocking system, the whole L4D2 stuff, and other things. It's just getting bumpy for them I guess, and I hope they learn whatever they can from it.
They said they would rather make a much better quality product than struggle with getting to grips with the console itself and make a sub par product overall. IMHO that's a legitimate reason, especially when they are making an arse load of money as is. And if you look at their games, they aren't about the cutting edge, they are about the mechanics and story.nathan-dts said:My message to them is LEARN. The main reason is because PS3 games are much harder to code, meanwhile the pc is much, much easier to code and seeing that the xbox360 has very similar coding pc, you can see then why they hate the PS3, well not so much the PS3 but more the coding if anything. But I see what you mean, they COULD be making more money but it would probably take alot of time to make the games on it.wrecker77 said:Why do they hate the ps3 so much? Very few PC game developers have a consistent record of creating games that are notoriously immersive and compelling (Portal, the Half-Life series), or that have ridiculous amounts of replay value (Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike).Xvito said:I really dislike Valve...
To me they're just a bunch of douche-bags... Who like themselves extremely much. They've made some decent games (Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike) and some good ones (Portal, Left 4 Dead)... And there's the Half-Life series, one of the most overrated gaming-series ever.
I have no idea how they've achieved their God-like status in the industry...? They haven't done anything exceptional and from what I've heard and seen (e.g interviews) of them; they're not very nice people...
Then again, I think that a Disney-game is the best game ever, so who am I to judge?
