I've created this thread to get suggestions how to kill time between now and September, a week has passed since I've finished high school so I now sit in a strange time period in whch I have nothing to be stressed about and have very little to fill it with.
Same here. I graduated from High school in May.
So far I've spent two weeks with my family in Belize, and tried to go on a 50 mile back packing trip with my boy scout troop--that unfortionately fell apart three days in, we had really bad luck. I'm also finishing up the paper work to get my Eagle.
Other than that, I've decided to use my time to go back and replay Fallout 3 to get all the achievements I missed the other times I've played through it. Also, to play through F:New Vegas a couple times, because I never got a chance to play all the DLC. A friend and I are playing through Dead Rising 2 together in co-op, and I'm trying to get all the achievements in that game. I have a huge back log that I've been working on which include but are not limited to Gun (I actually already beat that one), Kameo, Condemned, Driver SF, Viva Pinata, and Battlefield 3. I also plan to eventually get the Skyrim DLC, Mass Effect 3, and Assassins Creed Revelations.

Other than that, I've been holding off on getting a job over the summer both because I want to finish my Eagle first and because I had two big trips early in the summer (50 miler and Belize, but both of those are done now). Having already registered for classes for next year and attending a local college, I'll actually be able to keep my summer job long after summer. A friend of mine works for parks and rec, and says he should be able to hook me up. I'm also planning on getting a job on-campus during the year.

As a guy in the EXACT situation as you, I'm trying to find a job. It is not working very well sadly.
I only need one for 6 months and I'm having no luck.

OT: Join a Gym, a nice cheap one if you don't have much money.
Used to go to a gym until problems in my Achilles' tendons and hip arose. I now need time to move rooms in my house anyway.

- Read books and comics/manga.
- Watch plenty of anime and other shows.
- Play plenty of videogames.
- Sunbathe.
- Practice my archery.
- Work parttime.
- Try to hang out with friends at least a bit.
- Visit Abunai (big Dutch anime convention), preferably the whole weekend.

And here's the kicker:
[HEADING=2]- Do two school projects.[/HEADING]

Yeah. It's summer and I'm actually working for school. I want to get my propedeuse [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propedeuse] in one year so I have to catch up a bit.

I graduated college (ostensibly) in May, with a couple of small courses to wrap up over the summer, which makes getting a full-time job before September both impractical and unlikely. So, with that in mind, this summer I'm doing a bunch of little things:
- learning more Japanese (yay languages!)
- researching how to become a linguist with my oh-so-versatile English degree (see above)
- taking summer classes (BLARGLFARGL)
- working whenever my job has hours they can give me (which isn't often enough, but that's not their fault)
- drawing a little every day to try and have a noticeable improvement by the time the summer is over
- composing some music for the musical I want to write
- procrastinating on all of the above
- playing video games
- messing around on the internet
- and reading. Lots of reading. SO MUCH READING.

Well, my plan for this summer:

- Make my videogame backlog smaller
- Hang out with friends
- Hang out and play boardgames with my LARP group
- Be on a LARP in early august
- Finish reading "A Dance of Dragons"
- Maybe make a crossbow out of my bow (I doubt that I can do that, but I might try)
- Maybe watch some anime
- Watch "Avatar: The last Airbender"
