How to Forget?

Hey all,

Let's say, hypothetically, I know some things. These things are horrible and occur to people I care about. Let's also say the people committing the atrocities are people I have to spend time with every day, to protect the victims. The things I know... god... it's inhuman.

Is there someone with experience I can PM?

And to you all...

How do I forget the images? They are there every time I close my eyes, and every night when I try to sleep.

:(

I don't know exactly what it is that you're trying to forget, so I'm not sure if I have "experience" in this area. You can try me though, I'm pretty "experienced" in a lot of ways that would surprise people. PM me if you want.

Psychologically, you'll need to deal with the problem somehow. It sounds like you could be describing a situation for the police to handle. No matter what doubts you may have, the police can help. They're often given a bad rap in the media, but police protection works if that's what you mean by "protecting the victims". It will help you deal with the memories when they no longer a problem that needs solving.

The answer is simple: kill the Batman find a way to make sure those people you spend time with can no longer hurt the ones you care about. Do it the legal way and call the cops on them, or do it the only way and take care of them yourself. The police will never understand. The people you care about will also not understand, even though you did what you did for them. They will call you a monster. They will fear and shun you. But that is the consequence of doing the right thing.

If it is affecting you this drastically, you must deal with it just as drastically.

That's a hard question.
I personally have every bad/embarrassing/sad memory burned permanently into my brain.
I will never forget them.

I am not sure if I, or for that matter, anyone else, can help on such little information.

Maybe what you are looking for is support and practical advice, rather thansomeone who is/has been in the same situation?

As for forgetting, well, anything that takes your mind away is good. I used to plan through study, creative projects, anything interesting enough to break my chain of thought. One favourite was planning out the perfect room that I could live in and never go out of again. In the end, it involved a king sized bed, a wall that incorporated a fish tank and a grand piano...

I've already reported it. They denied everything because if they talk, they're in trouble. I can't use the police anymore. They don't really seem to believe us.

And it's happening every bloody day. It's not affecting me as much as it's affecting them. I can promise it's going to happen at least twice tomorrow, with the people doing it texting me WHILE they do it! Gaah.

If they are texting you while it's happening, turn up to the police station with your mobile phone in hand.

Domestic violence? Sexual assault? You're not simply going to forget about things like that, ain't gonna happen. You'll have to learn to live with those horrible experiences, and if you ask me you're going to need professional help with that.

Or at least show them your texting history.
And you need to decide if you want to get your friends in trouble. Is it worth it?
If you gave details you could get better help.

That's... a pretty good idea. I just don't know what they'd do. And these people close to me would never talk to me again.

Let's also just say... this goes pretty deep. There's a big group involved over a large area at the control of one crazy person. They stop at nothing...

Do you want to talk to people doing the horrible things you say they're doing?

The authorities are your biggest friend here and if I'm not mistaken you can report crimes anonymously (at least you can over here). Just tell them what you're afraid of what might happen so they can take precautions (like not mentioning your name in court cases or something like that), but do go to the police with such evidence, I don't see anything else that might stop them.

If it's rape, bullying, child abuse, physical assault, or murder, I can help. If you need to take your mind off of something, I recommend this:

No, I'm dead serious. It helps me ignore my troubles like you wouldn't believe.

It's up to you but if I were you I wouldn't be wimping out on this. The more serious and crazy it is, the more important that it is that you need to do what's right. If your local cops won't believe you, try someone else. Try higher up. Try a mediator. Try anonymously. Try anything and everything. Just don't sit there and do nothing or you're going to slowly drive yourself insane, which is a fate far worse than anything other people could do to you.

I'm just 17 so I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on this but if what you're talking about is really THAT BAD then you have to tell a higher authority. If you keep letting this happen it will haunt you forever. And these images you see... It's funny you mention this now because in the last 7 days I've browsed sites that I will not name here. Needless to say I came out broken. I've got no faith left in humanity now. And the images, they'll never leave me and I doubt they'll ever leave you but I dealt with it by picking myself up and moving forward. So yeah, basically what I'm telling you is: You've seen some bad shit, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?

If that's what it takes to stop it, so be it. If you really want to stop this you'll risk it. They may never speak to you again but you'll know you did the right thing.

Drink.
Lots.
Also find some weed and get baked.

Seriously though, find something else to take your mind off it, or address the situation, talk to people you trust or people with authority, discuss it. It sometimes just feels better to talk about stuff and it could help you get through it.
