I hate EVs. At least let us be able to track them like xp, Also it would be nice to have more than one save file, what is up with only having one? And like what people have already said, a redesign of the whole HM system. I am tired of lugging around HM slaves.

No HMs is definately a good idea. customisable avatar would be nice,it is an RPG after all(and not having to play a 10yr old kid would be appreciated). a story mode with enemy trainers more challenging than stepping on bugs. A story which isnt laughably retarded(i could go on...)

HMs need to change, period. Everything about this has been said.

Definitely need more variation to the starters. Fire, grass, water was great for a while, but now it's just old.

The pacing needs to go up. One reason I find myself drifting away from the games is that they move SO SLOW. Whether it be the endless wandering and battles or just the number of cities you slog through to get to major plot points in crazy. More stuff needs to happen at a faster clip, this would make the game about the same length, but making it so much more fun to play.

More pokemon at a time would be nice. I'd like to be able to choose whether to make it a double or even triple battle. Being able to choose the dynamic of the battle from the beginning would add so much variation and make each battle more interesting.

They either need to make the moves more dynamic or give you more of them. Most of the time I just end up spamming moves to death. It gets old. I realize that the multiplayer is more complex, but that's only when you get down to the nitty gritty details of things. Give us surface level players something more to chew on!

PLOT. I know it's not nintendo's strong suit, but if they're not going to mix up the gameplay to make it more fun, then you need to change what surrounds the gameplay. And a great story can lead to a great variance of gameplay. Shifting away from they're setup would be awesome. Does every country in the pokeworld follow the same 8 gym pattern? Really?

It's a game that's aged well, but what it has can only carry it so far. If things don't change it'll start to lose it's legs.

I've always liked pokemon games, but there have always been some awesome things that the games just black. All of my thoughts might take a while to white, but I think my ideas for the game aren't too bad.

Rather than going through the gyms one by one, all gym trainers would be set to level 50. When you go to fight them, the battle tower system would apply, where all pokemon above 50 would be reduced and ones below would stay the same level. Their pokemon would typically have high IV's and EV's coming to a total of 760, rather than 510. Gym battles won't be required to get around and would instead be the major boss battles of the game. They would each have their own special rules and stipulations associated with each gym. For example, one may ban held items and another may force you to use random pokemon in your party.

Wild pokemon would work in pretty much the same way and generic trainers on the road would be set about 5 or so levels below your party's average level (Party average would ignore level gaps of more than 10, so if you had two level 60's and four level 49's, your party's average level would be 60, so you couldn't just run through the game with one pokemon)

Your rival's party level will be balanced to yours, along with a few other tweaks:
His party will change to counter whatever you used in your last encounter, the only constant being his starter. So, say on your last fight you used:
Blastoise
Magmar
Golem
Dusknoir
Blissey
Scizor

He'd still be using Venusaur, though it's moveset will change slightly to compensate for his weakness to Magmar. Instead of Synthesis, he might be packing Earthquake.
He might come in with an Umbreon, or any other dark pokemon to counter Dusknoir and a fire-type to counter Scizor. That way, when you see your rival coming around the bend, you won't just shrug him off as a minor annoyance. Your rival will also catch the legendary for the opposite version and challenge you to a 1 on 1 battle between the two at some point.

HMs would be revamped and instead of becoming usable as a reward from beating Gym Leaders, they'd be ready to use as soon as you get them. To get the HM's you'd have to complete quests and/or find them in dungeons.
HM moves would be turned into utility moves, which would work as follows:
Each pokemon can have up to 4 utility moves, which would be separate from combat moves. Even though they can't be used in battle, they would apply buffs to whichever pokemon is using them. For example, a pokemon with flash would gain a slight boost to evasion, while one with surf would get a small water attack boost. This way, you can get around the world without having to lug around some HM whore.

8 *official* gym patterns.

There's also the unofficial ones which don't have badges, like the Fighting gym in Saffron City.

And I assume it's the 8 pattern so people don't have to move country to get 8 badges to qualify for the Pokémon League Competition.

Guns. Everything would be so much easier with Guns.
yeah, this. Lets see how many pokemon get back up after losing when everybody has automatic weapons!

Wow, that actually sounds terrible. I apologize for that. Tho it would still be awesome.

Cut out the need for HM's.Just have a Pokémon that can automatically use said ability. Why is it that I can't swim with a water Pokémon unless it has a HM that allows it to do so?Why can't it just swim because it's a fucking water pokémon.
Same with Flying types,or any Pokémon with claws.

The 8-Gym pattern is a winning formula.Freak know that the old fans will get the games for the sake of Nostalgia, and also hope that the games story format will get newer, younger fans into it.So in this case, they probably won't change the 8-Gym system in case anything else doesn't work.Ultimately, keeping it the same is the safest option.

Multiple saves would be nice..

I don't like Battle Tower. There's almost no incentive to go there as you don't gain money or experience.Just some points used to get a couple of Tm's or evolution stones.
They tried to make Battle Colosseum going by adding variations of the challenges in SS and HG,but there's no real reward,so what's the point?
Do they even allow you to record the data of the Pokémon you see there?

I did love the ability to re-battle gym leaders.Keep that up guys,I WANT A REASON TO KEEP PLAYING THE GAME.Not start over 6 million times because I got bored.

My last point.Leave.Eevee.Alone.Glaceon and Leafeon suck balls.

Less stupid things like fashion shows, and a rebalance of leveling mechanics. Preferably make the EVs less transparent. I really hate how my little brother can put NO effort into leveling his pokemon and kick my ass with a group of a Lv30, lv6, lv5, lv6, lv10, lv7 while I have 6 level 22s with EVs considered while gaining XP. I shouldn't have to wait for us to be both lv99 before seeing the differences.
I'd actually prefer the option to beat the game (or an extended side story at least) performing only fashion shows. Not because I buy the games for that reason, but to give some diversity. Of course the competitions will need some fleshing out but I think it could be done.

And no to changing EV dynamics, just no.
Oh, I don't think there is anything wrong with the EV system at all, but I want something listed in my stats how many EV points I've earned for each stat, and how many I can still earn with that pokemon. Simple and transparent. I do like what you said about winning the game with the Fashion shows. It would be cool if you could become a pokemon master in several ways like you can win Civilization in several ways (Space race, world domination, cultural victory, etc.)

I think they should make a game that spans the four regions to give an extensive experience.
But thats just me.

I wouldn't mind HM moves taking up slots in my pokemons attacks if they didn't SUCK.
I mean why is Rock Smash so weak? Cut so pointless? Strength so ineffective? It would be nice if I could hit a pokemon twenty levels weaker with Cut and actually kill it. Seriously.

Pokemon has made great strides in improving the stat system without loosing appeal to children. Passive abilities, EV points and breeding (which nearly always leads to inbreeding).
And HGSS did a good job in improving the challenge factor. With high level opponents and such.
But each gym battle should feel like a bigger deal. More twists and rules in battles more double battles or maybe even minigames instead of battles.
Pokeathelon? Those were so much fun, if I was competing in one of those for a Gym badge I'd be super excited and way more interested.

They NEED TO VARY TYPES TOO. Starters have been water, fire, grass for more than ten years. There are other mixes that work. Water, Ground, Electric or Psychic, Dark, Ghost or Steel, fire, rock Maybe not three choices more or less? Something new?
(Could someone explain what's up with dark type? Why is bug super-effective?)

Pokemon could use more personality. In HGSS they can follow you, which is cute. But they could do more than that, maybe some of my pokemon don't like each other. And I have to keep them separate or they'll kick the crap out of each other. Maybe they like each other and they make babies. I could carry an egg without filling a party slot, and then it goes to day care when it's hatched. I don't like the PC storage. I can't help but think my pokemon develop PTSD in there.

Larger, nonlinear maps. I don't need to walk only a few yards to get from one city to the next. I think it should be a huge ass adventure to get anywhere. Smaller, unmarked towns on routes on the way to cities. And in those little hidden towns (not hidden, but not seen on the map) offer certain things you can't get anywhere else. Odd key items, flutes, items for your pokemon to hold, unique TMs. You remember in the anime when they didn't go from one gym to another? And they took a long time to get place to place? Running into little villages on the way? (Like the one with the talking Ghastly) That would be TOTALLY awesome in the games. Giving them a more expansive feel.

Why can't he see me? I'm right next to him.

For the love of god, make all the shit that really matters to people who care, things like effort and individual values, OPEN AND CLEAR. Don't hide them behind the game, they're critical to making a competitive team and choosing a good pokemon from a bad one of the same species. Sure, make it a small part of the game that 99% of regular players can ignore, but don't make those who do care have to use obscure formulae and spend valuable time leveling pokemon to the point where this info can be extrapolated. The game should not hide key information like this.

Here's an idea. BRING BACK TEAM ROCKET! I'm so sick of all these new bad guys... Team Magma, Team Aqua, Team Galactic, Team Kiss My Ass...

And how about we cut down the increasing number of Pokemon? I miss the old 150. The news ones in gold and silver were nice, but once it exceeded that, I lost interest.

Also, why do all the protagonists have such crappy fashion senses? Can't we get one that, I dunno, looks like a normal person?

This is random, but when a trainer sees you and demands to battle, put in a 'kiss off' option if you can't battle. Like if your team is all fainted. And you only have one left on half hp. And it's a level 5.

It's also be nice if the starters weren't always variations of the same three types. Why not start us off with a level 5 legendary? That'd make an interesting time. In fact... (goes to jot down idea for fan fic...)

I apologise, I misinterpreted.

In that case I agree, now that the secret has been known since generation 2 and people will have out of game charts anyway they may as well create a convenience in game for players.

Yes, and rewards for completing said plot lines. Like becoming a breeding master and eggs take half as many steps to hatch as a first thought. It would definitely rejuvenate the series a bit, but I guess we don't buy it to put our monsters on parade.

I say, big, 3D pokemon, on PC and consoles, and it's live action, no turn based stuff. It'd be SO COOL.

less linear, spend a bit longer developing new pokemon and make the whole game less kiddie; nintendo, your fanbase has grown up now, lets have some stroytelling beyond some old guy grooming you under the guise of research. and there must be some way of making the game a challenge, not just run around and train until you can kill everything, it's what made the game so popular tho so i'm just wineing really.
KEY POINT: nobody trains cute pokemon, just make them cooler

Break the cycle of water, fire and grass starters, what about a psychic, dark and fighting starter, it would be different at least.

Also in the wi-fi trade lemme search for someone who actually want what I have to offer.
