It really doesn't matter they are nearly all stand alone games and stories with the exception of 10-2 the only thing that ties them together is core gameplay mechanics that varies slightly from game to game and some characters are in several games like Cid, Bahamut, Ifrit, Shiva and Gilgamesh.

Just letting you guys know I just finished FFI and... Well, talk abotu anticlimatic ending. The final boss was the easiest thing EVER. The fight took, I don't know, ten minutes, at best? I was really expecting something else, considering it took me more than half an hour (with members of my party dying constantly) to beat Tiamat on Whisperwind Cove, I thought "OK, the last Boss will be painful. I just can see it."

But it really wasn't.

BNow I've started playing FFII (gasp!) and see what's the horror is all about. Until now, it seems like an OK game, except for the fact that everyone is really cryptic about EVERYTHING. One hour in the game, and I was already stuck D=

Anyways, I'll see how that goes XD

Not played FFI, but if Tiamat was one of those optional bosses: Get used to it. The optionals are pretty much never as tough as the Final Boss herself. They're an extra challange. Emerald, Omega, Ozma, Panence...whatever the FFX-2 optional secret boss was.

And then all the FFXII optionals completely blow the final boss out of the water. Some of them will take quite literally hours of your game time to beat in combat. Not to prepare for, in actual combat of the boss.

i doesnt really matter as they have nothing to do with one another. it would be interesting to play them in order tho, that way you can see how the series has evolved over the years. personally my favorite were 4,6,7,8,9,10 and i absolutely hated 12, i didnt play 11 because i dont see why i should have to pay to play online after already paying for the game. also tactics was my absolute favorite although it wasnt a numbered game.

Tiamat is one of the four elemental fiends. The only semi-optional creature in FFI is the Warmech which has a 2% encounter rate on the path to Tiamat (ironically).

This must be the DS or PSP (?) version of FFI as the original NES version was a bit more difficult. I didn't have much problems with Chaos either, but Tiamat was a breeze for me as well (both on the NES). The only really challenging part of FFI was near the beginning in the quest to wake the sleeping prince. Retrieving the crown from the Marsh Cave is a bit of a nightmare.

I've heard of people who gave up though as they found it too hard.

Tiamat is one of the elementals? So, I guess I'm mistaken then. Well, he's the dragon just before you get that Ultima Sword (wich is great, if you don't care about the fact that it's attack power reflects the HP you have at the time XD

But, yes, that fight was pretty much optional, since you really don't have to finish Whispering Cove to beat the game. This is just me trying to go over every single thing in the game XD

Oh, the Marsh Caves... Don't remind me of those, really </3

I'd say start with 7 and then go on to 8 9 and 10. After that go to 6 then work downwards.

If you just go from 1 to 10 you'll be bored to tears with the series by 3. They're only really appreciated by mega FF fans these days. :p

Good: 1, 4, 5, 6, 9, Tactics advance/a2.
Bad: Any numbered sequel not mentioned in good.

Everyone has preferances, play em all, and decide.

For instance I love 9. I don't know what anyones problem with it is, and whenever anyone tries to justify their hatred to me it sounds like a petty gripe. I think it's a classic.

I hate X-2 only, simply because...well as a straight female the sex appeal was lost on me and as I usually like a good story, this one read like a badly written fanfic in order to screw around with 10 some more. So I really didn't like it any further than the battle system, and that just doesn't do it for me.

The rest are all awesome.

Kudos to you for getting over a phobia of a game and biting the bullet to actually try.

If you're the type that wants to experience them all, play them in chronological order. They get better as they go, and if you play the later ones before playing the earlier ones, it's loathsome to go back, for the most part.
