Most important thing in my opinion is a good bunch of people who get along. Also, try to make sure everyone can play at the same time, lot of guilds I've been in have suffered from having lots of people who are constantly missing each other.

Invest way too much time, thats how.

Also, make sure you gather up some friends you know you can relie on to keep things ordered when your not around.

Plus, make sure you have a good sceening process for new members.

Plan tons of events. They dont all have to be about raiding and the like aswell. Plan fun recruitment drives. Choose people who get along well. If two argue see both sides of the argument and kick whoever was the moron.

That is pretty much how you run a good guild. Worked for me when I used to run one.

Join another guild, see how they work, and copy them.

PS: a tip on guild wars is if you're poor DON'T BUY A GUILD HALL.

Name it based on something really controversial that will piss a lot of people off.

You will immediately have somewhere between at least 100 and over 9000 members.

And Seaking.

Start a cult IRL, preaching about gods/aliens/ninjas will prolly work.

Then they will do whatever you tell them to do, like join your guild...

this way you'll also be sure to get firstp dips on the good loot

Have a couple of really good friends playing, designate all loot to them because they are the "Main tanks/healers/dps". Ignore all outrage from the rest of the guild and promise them that they will get theirs next week. Despite other people being far more skilled, allow only your friends to be in important roles. Then gather loot until it disintegrates.

Atleast, this is how WoW was when I played. God damn, how frustrating. Even more frustrating is that since I stopped playing, the guild I made - Handsome Gentlemens Club - actually has some people who aren't peons. With that name, how could it not.

Anyway, 500 posts on 3 different accounts and this is the first time I've bothered to post in the gaming section.

Hoorah!

Have active, friendly members. I left my last WoW guild because no one was ever online and we never did any guild runs together. It was boring, and many of the members were people who had come online once or twice, then never bothered again.

Be nice, watch out for ninjas. Guild I'm in, the leader is so nice, anyone who joins stays.
