Damn man, sorry to hear that. Best antidote is rush out and try and sleep with her best friend/sister as fast as humanly possible (date rape drugs included).

On the other hand being single is not a bad thing. Learn to enjoy life for yourself and go spend time with your friends.

And get drunk tonight, very very very drunk. You'll have a good cry and everything will be fine (except you head).

Also, PC. Nothing screams social distress more than hunched over a keyboard crying.
+_ I'm with whoever said turn to the Dark Side... they lied... it ALWAYS works out well!

Perhaps she does the same thing as my first girlfriend. Gets a new partner and becomes accidentally pregnant three months from now.
That's certainly one way to look at it. Another way look at is you sneak into said new partner's house, pierce all his condoms and let the babies fly.

Definitely telling you, there is one thing a friend can be relied upon and that's the following conversation:

sicDaniel: "Dude, girlfriend just told me she wants a break."
friend: "Brutal dude, pub?"
sicDaniel: "You don't mind?"
friend: "Dude, what are dudes for?"

Of course the gross usage of the word 'dude' is optional, is definitely the role a friend should play.

Dude...

EDIT
That was a grossly minimal post, time to expand.

For the most part, I would think things like this happen for a reason. I'd say this is a good thing, as pinning her to a relationship she wasn't particularly happy with would cause her to cheat at a higher probability.

Although, this is my outlook of assuming the best from people. In this case, I can hope it's a good one.

Heh. Wish I'd had that. Besides, euphemisms and such make more sense when you're drunk.

Even if she didn't she'd be unhappy, which would likely make her lash out. This in turn would make you unhappy.

I tried to make a relationship work after losing my confidence due to her infidelity. However she enjoyed having two friends that she would think about sleeping with around as back up. Needless to say the whole thing would have never worked out and I'm not going to take back a person in such a situation.

If you want a person back the best way to do it is to detach from them and pursue other people. Don't hide that you have started doing it, but don't show it off for the sake of showing it off either. There's a lot more psychology and human study to this, but I haven't the time to type it all out (there's a lot).

Dudes...he hasn't posted in like 20 minutes. I hope he's making plans to get drunk and not lying in a bathtub full of water with the toaster.

Dry your eyes mate,
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up,
It's time to walk away now.

Had that song in my head for weeks and I've been waiting for the chance to quote it.
Seriously, just let her know how you feel about her then give her space and give her time, don't rush her or pressure her. I'm sure she'll come to the right decision.

If you want stress relief, play Dead Rising. If you want to take your mind off it, play Condemned: Criminal Origins. If you're totally heart-broken, play Portal. Go out and buy it for 360 if you have to.

Oh my god guys please stop recommending games that I can´t play :( At least the gaming half of my soul should stay happy. I know Dead Rising and Portal are awesome but I´ve been short on money lately and it´ll take another month until this will change. Until then, I´m stuck with a regular Xbox and a low-low-low-end PC.
Seriously, just let her know how you feel about her then give her space and give her time, don't rush her or pressure her. I'm sure she'll come to the right decision.
That´s exactly what I´m doing, I figured it may be my own behaviour over the last weeks that lead her to this decision, I probably buggered her too much. So now I am waiting.

Yeah...I'm kind of hoping he's out having fun, not out capping school kids.
There's a difference?

Anyway man, just give her some space and focus on other things.

Phew, was glad my name didn't pop up in the news: "Suicide linked to vaguely unsupportive internet forum."

Oh well, there's only one cure for depression. Drink so heavily you get really depressed and then come round the other side of the psychosis rainbow.

Take it easy dude.
